Fatmike's Sexy 57 Rimless

haha I just went over there to your thread right when I asked!

I cant decide what color to do!!

black it is! ha my friend used a latex paint that worked really well for him. Im pretty sure thats what I am going to use

Looking good, Mike.
When you paint, have you considered spraying it? I've used Krylon on a couple tanks and it works very, very well and goes on easy. Just mask whatever you don't want painted. IMO, I'd go with black as well.
As for the plumbing, Savko has black PVC fittings and pipe (not ABS, but regular PVC that is black) so you wouldn't have to paint.

Thanks! no I never considered spraying it but I do like that Idea! do you just get the krylon at home depot or could I get it at meijer? I plan on running to Savko tomorrow I believe to start collecting plumbing pieces and I did not know they had that so I will defintely be on the look out

thanks for the siggestions!

Krylon Fusion can be bought from Walmart. I used it on my tank and I'd do it again.

awesome thanks Luke! ya I think that sounds easiest and I will defintely be using it to paint the back of my tank.

now the question is what kind did you use of the krylon spray paint? I saw that there were about 8 different types

Ok awesome thank you! im going to go grab some tonight!

Tape off everything and use broad, horizontal strokes extending past the edges of the tank. Just add light coats of paint and wait 10-20 minutes between coats. I lost count of how many coats I added. Check coverage from the front of the tank with a light behind the tank.

2nd on the Krylon Fusion black for painting the back of the tank. Works great.

I can't wait to see the BM Curve 5 in action as that's the skimmer I'm looking to upgrade to when I switch to a sump setup.

Ya Im excited to get that curve 5 up and going!

Ha I went to 3 different places. None of them had the krylon spray paint.

I bought a bunch of plumbing stuff today so I'll start on that tonight

I gave in and just asked what they thought at Home Depot and they were blown away and had no clue lol

I got some flat black 2x spray paint that does all surfaces and more! Ha we shall see

I couldn't find krylon when I was looking the other day either. I wonder where it's hiding out now. I was going to Lowes.
