Since he's already in your display, just try to make sure he stays well fed...you can try Garlic or Selcon soaked foods...(not sure if they really help or not, but worth a shot).

Otherwise you can take the more extreme, but proper route and pull all your fish in QT and let the tank run fallow while you treat with copper or hypo.

If your going to go through the trouble of QTing fish from now on, then you might as well pull the ones you have and treat for ich. It just makes sense to me. Run the display fallow for 76 days. Dont add any new fish to the QT until the fallow period is over and the current fish are back in the display.

He's the only fish I have in there right now

I have copper I just need to get a new tank from petco which I am going to do after school

While I am at petco anything else I should get

Some formalin or acriflavine may be needed if this turns out to be velvet. See examples below of products with contain these chemicals:
  • The following products contain acriflavine: Acriflavine-MS and Ruby Reef Rally.
  • The following products contain formalin: Formalin-MS, Quick Cure, Aquarium Solutions Ich-X, Kordon Rid-Ich Plus.

Also what filter media do u use in ur HOB for the qt?

None, just a piece of live rock or a sponge filter that has been seeded with bacteria. You wouldn't want to run carbon as it'll strip the medications from the water.

Yea I know not to run carbon but how about those sponges that remove ammonia? Is that seeded with bacteria?

You have to manually seed the bio-media (like a sponge) with one of those bacteria in a bottle products (exs. Bio-Spira, Seachem Stability, Dr Tim's Nitrifying Bacteria). You can buy one of those air driven sponge filters and that would be good enough for 1 firefish, but if you are needing to QT a larger bio-load you will need a HOB like the Aquaclear powerfilter.

Also how do I transfer fish from dt to qt. and even if it's just that one fish the tank should be fallow for that 76 day period

Just got back home some specks are no longer there. He still has some on his body is it possible they could've still been debris or micro air bubbles?

Also petco didn't have the size tank I wanted.

Ich remains on the fish a minimum of 3 days before dropping off, but as little as 12 hours if it is velvet.

Be careful buying from a lfs if has sand bottom holding tanks you don't know what was floating upside down in there last week.
