Fish died

If it was brook you would have noticed abnormal behavior prior to death and a dusty film coating covering the fish. You stated you did not observe anything and the fish was eating fine.
Post 15 states fish suddenly did not eat. Brook can be within gills and few visible signs although the presence of mucus is the obvious along with changes in behavior and diet as well as loss of color which was also noted.

this may be helpful

I want to think it is the birth defect of the fish though I am not sure why it’s fins are torn then… since no other fish or cuc.

Were the fins tattered before it died ? Sometimes flukes cause this.

Duck lips :)

Don’t they cull the deformed ones?

Maybe that is why you had bad luck with clowns if you are taking the ones to be culled but no harm in trying to keep them alive either as pets.

What is flukes?

A parasite that is in the gills or on the skin. Treated with prazipro.

I would agree except he is the only one I have gotten from the "defective" tank

Sorry didn't see that he changed his story mid thread about the fish condition.

Yes all parameters are in normal range. Temp 79.8 degrees. I will definitely buy a voltage multimeter tomorrow
Sorry to see. I’m on my phone and I can’t pull up the other thread, so I can’t refer to the specifics of the case:
The fish has a very sunken belly. That’s unusual for a clownfish. Was it eating well? If so, we’re you feeding it enough?

Stray voltage won’t kill fish like that. The fish aren’t grounded so there is no electrical potential. A short to ground might be a problem, but more in that you would be shocked reaching into the tank.
