Fish have ich! No QT

I was feeding my fish today when I noticed White spots all over there fins and body! I'm pretty sure its ich, but I'm not sure what to do, I don't have a QT and Im afraid to dose anything into my DT it has corals and anemones. What should I do?

I would do 45 day min if you turn the heat up to 81-82. You do not need to remove CUC or nems.

I agree it is probably brook... pic is grainy but that was my thought as well.

I would do either a peroxide bath or formalin then into QT and treat with metronidazole. Feshwater bath before QT can also be used if you don't have access to the others.. it gives temporarily relief before the fish goes into QT.

I would not delay treatment.

I’m using this at the moment for my Red Headed Goby in my nano. Seems to be working. It’s a 10 day treatment. I just add the amount in a little tank water in a small container. Swirl it around then pour into tank. I have invertebrates in the tank. No need to remove fish.

You're in Adelaide so which Copper product are you going to use? Reef Revolution Quarantine?

If you are going that route be aware that you will need a Hanna LR copper, not HR.
The therapeutic dose for that product is between 0.18 and 0.22 ppm. The Hanna HR is not accurate enough.

I was provided some Cupramine. This looks to have cleared the ICH. I have since put both fish back in main tank and fingers crossed it's gone. No other fish was infected.
I have contacted Ruby regarding getting Rally Pro. No importers in Australia. So we're stuck with the otherwise crap available here.
Am dosing Reef Medic now as bit of a backup

It's just one example. Even BRS says Rally. The Ruby webpage say Rally is a treatment for external parasites among others. Not sure what page you read.

But anyway I'm a newbie so considering my options in Australia Reef Medic even after reading the reviews is my only choice for in tank treatment. Our market is not big enough for many to bother investing here. Especially if the medication is and actual pharmaceutical then they have big hoops to jump through.
Just look at the over reaction to COVID here.

I just don’t know of any studies which show that this effectively and permanently removes ich — unlike copper, fallow, TTM, or hyposalinity.

Coper is not an option for every one. I bought a QT and used it for a week. I watched the fish stress in there so moved as soon as no ich visible. A week ago. So far no ICH returned. Fingers and toes crossed.

Someone (pharmacist in the hobby) needs to develop a trustworthy in tank treatment.

This does not state anything about Brooklynella. Seems to be working for ICH, past reviews have claimed it. Other parasites listed above. With ICH the parasite goes to reproduce and drop Cyst or tomont..Which fall to sand bed or LR. These will release tomites, that go and look for a host. If they can’t find a host (Fish)they will die in a day or two. This is said to increase the immune system of the fish but mainly gets the fish skin to produce extra mucus and be extra slimy. This keeps tgg he e parasite from attacking to the host/fish in my understanding. Seems like goby is getting better but this is my first go at this. I’ll report back on the outcome….

Well if you want a cheapish Hanna HR Copper Checker, I have a barely used one as I had to buy a LR version for use with what's now available in Oz.

UPDATE: I went to my LFS and picked up a 20 gal QT. Treating with methylene blue and prazipro.
also it turned out to be ich.

When fish have ICH , do the white spots appear then disappear when it goes to reproduction stage? Then once released from cyst the white spots reappear…?

If I had any criminal instincts, supplying our reefing brothers and sisters down under with needed supplies sounds like a money maker!

The tomites can only live several hours and up to 2 days swimming looking for a host before the parasite will starve. So why would copper be the only way to treat a tank if there’s a way from keeping the parasite from finding or affecting a host.

Yeah I heard that a lot now. Kinda ticked, the people at my LFS told me this was a good method, not sure what to do now.

I would go read the threads on ich erradication and management. I would not listen to what people post here (even me, other than to go read the threads!). This is not a crisis, believe it or not. It is a decision point for the next 10 years of your reefing life. What kind of reefer will you be. Take your time and make your decision.

Does anyone here know if methylene blue is just a dip or should be dosed? I dosed it but now all Im seeing is people using it for dips.
