Lfs did not have a test kit for copper. I need to find one.

There's a fish shop close by with a test kit. Swinging by on my way home.

Just to be clear, did you remove all the fish from your DT? If not, the clowns will likely be reinfected once they are added back in :/

I still have to catch a small red neon goby. I know the life cycle of these parasites. They need a host in the life cycle. Remove all hosts. Brake life cycle.

You've got it! Good luck :)

I set up a small 6 gallon hospital tank. Treating with Copper Power Green. Wish me luck. IMG_20170405_143752776.jpg
You definitely did the correct thing. BUT, watch your parameters closely and what type of filtration do you have on it?, I would check params every 6 hours or so. The reason being is because a 6 gallon tank cannot handle 2 fish, it can barely handle one. I have lost many clowns in my first tank which was 6 gallons. And when I finally had one that survived a few months, it dies when I went more than 4 days without treating it with Special Blend because the ammonia would rise EVERYDAY. Good luck.

The Seachem test is good for both chelated and ionic copper. It appears that the copper product you used is a chelated product, so you will need a test that can handle both types of copper.

The Seachem test will test for Chelated coppers but the results slider doesn't test into therapeutic range, you'll need the API kit for Copper Power. The Seachem test works great for ionic copper such as Cupramine.

Best of luck.

Actually, it is just like any other high/low range tests. The instructions state to perform a dilution and multiply to get results greater than 0.8 mg/L:

I bought the API copper test kit. Does copper effect the ammonia test results ?

Yes, will cause false positives.
That's great. How do I know what the ammonia level is ?
I changed 1.5 gallon at around 6:00pm last night, re-applied copper to therapeutic level and did another 1.5 gallon this morning around 5:00am and re-applied copper.
I'll repeat this method over the next two or three weeks. Hope it is enough to keep ammonia down.

Seachem ammonia alert badge works even in the presence of copper:

According to Seachem, their liquid ammonia test kit still works with their copper product (Cupramine). But chelated copper (ex. Coppersafe) throws off all liquid ammonia test kits (as far as I know).

It will be one week of quarantine tomorrow. So far so good. I have been doing 1.5 gallon water changes twice a day followed by adding Cooper to therapeutic level. Fish are happy.

Tomorrow will be two weeks of quarantine treatment. I'm going to move them back into the display tank. Any recommendations on how to accilimate them ?

Looking back over this thread it appears Marine Velvet Disease was diagnosed as the likely culprit. While 2 weeks in copper may be enough to eradicate velvet in QT, 4 weeks would be better.

Also, 6 weeks is the recommended fallow period (in the DT) for velvet. 76 days would be ideal just in case ich was present.
