Well this is what I came up with, need to add a few more support runs under the test egg crate and test it out with rock and water.

Just throwing out a thought, is there any way to get the detritus to settle in one area and place a drain there to periodically drain the detritus without moving the rocks. I have no idea what the flow dynamics are for that sump, but I noticed a few indentations where junk might settle.

That's a good idea, I do have a drain right at the bottom for water changes, might be able to run a siphon tube and connect it back to the drain. Thank you for the idea.

Least I could do, I've gotten plenty from this thread, thank you for sharing, planning a 250g build in 2015. Between you and d2mini I should be good to go

Thank you for sharing your build! This is a great thread and I have seen a few things that I will be incorporating into my system. I'm actually adding a 400 gal pond in my aquarium room this week! Excited to keep watching your progress, wish I would of done a thread during my original build.

Thank You @LudazReef, and welcome to REEF2REEF.
It's never to late to start a build thread, I still need to start a new one for the 150 gallon DT in the living room, have tons of pictures maybe tomorrow lol.

Little movement... order 150lbs of dry (base) rock, received little under 170lbs, doesn't look like that much rock after it's been added...

Might order 100lbs more, what do you all think?

The more the better it wouldn't hurt
lol... I'm going to seed out about 20lbs worth from my current tank...
plus still need to get enough for the 180 gallon that this sump is plumbed too...
so going to end up with a little over 300lbs when it's all said and done...
