So I have had a hard time with my aquarium so far and I need advice. I have lost almost 22 fish and over $500 on fish but I still have 5 left that have lasted the whole time. I am scared to buy more fish because every time I do they die within a week. I right now have 2 blue green chromis, 2 firefly gobies and a rabbit fish. In my DT I am have cupermine and garlic in the fish food. What else can I do to keep these fish and to get other healthy fish and hopefully inverts back into my DT tank. Quick note I do not have a quarantine tank. I am thinking it might be nice but Idk what size tanks I would need. I do have a free 10 gallon one available but my partner is concerned that it would be a waste of money and that the fish will get sick anyways. Any advice would help!

You can treat the fish in a QT before they go in to your DT so they don't spread any parasites like ich onto your other fish and most treatment is copper based which corals won't tolerate. You need to test your water if not already. How longs your tank been running for and what water do you use?

Well I am worried that there possibly are still parasites. I also get my water from a LFS who filters it for us and this thank has been running since February.

Sorry here is the picture.

How long have your fish been lasting after you put them into the tank? What acclimation process do you use? I think that getting a QT set up would be a good idea, and that 10 gallon should work fairly well. The main problem is that if there is a disease, then it is likely already in your DT, so the QT would only be there to stop new diseases from coming in. Hopefully a more experienced member can chime in about how you would go about solving that issue.

PH is fine my tank runs the same between 7.8-8. You do need to give us some numbers on ammonia and nitrite. Do you see any signs of spots on your fish and are they flicking and scratching a lot?

So the Salinity is normally at 1.025 but we lowered it to 1.021 and for acclimation I do a 20 min drip.

Those have all been at 0 and no signs lately but the day after we get new fish we do see them with spots or diving into the sand.

For acclimation, I've had the best results by floating the bag for 15 minutes, then adding a little bit of water every fifteen minutes for an hour.

Do you have any pictures of the fish while they are showing spots? Do the spots look like salt sprinkles?

I was reading about someone who floated but I wasn't sure if you could do that with saltwater fish.

Yeah you can but drip acclimatising should bring the temp up slow enough it shouldn't be a problem.I'm going to put this down to two things parasite or contaminants in the water. If you do have some pics of the fish it would be useful.
