Fishcrazy06's 72 bowfront and fishroom build thread

Yup that would be plumbing coming from upstairs. Two holes drilled in the floor and all. Would have gotten farther if I wouldn't have almost cut my thumb off!!!!

Gee...I feel really bad for bailing on you Eric:ops: But now when you say "This tank took blood, sweat and tears to complete" You will actually mean it:wink:

Can't wait for more updates!!

Oh there is plenty of stuff to do yet if you wanna come drink some beer!!!! Brian from wisconsin water gardens got me a killer deal on Aragonite sand today so I ordered up a few bags of that and picked up a bucket of salt from him too which was cheap enough!

Thanks. No new picture updates other than the frag rack that haydenhp built for me. My kalk stirrer arrived for dosing Kalk in my top off to help get my PH up a bit and my OM Squirt is here as well.

Paul (From Ocean Motions) and I are talking on which way to hook this up as I have my tank drilled a little different and I want to use the OM on all three of the returns not just the top two. Think it will work fine! Should have some new pictures coming soon. Also debating on setting up a cryptic fuge on this as well. Here is a picture of the frag rack that he built for me! Its Killer!!!!!!

Well its been a long time!!! Got to Love the Busy Summers and the honey to do Lists!!!! I haven't updated this in a while. Anywho I have almost all of the honey to do list done!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be working every night this week on sanding the stand down and refinishing it. Didn't care for how it turned out. Once that is done I will be bringing the tank upstairs and placing that on the stand. Most of the plumbing is done! Just need to connect things and let the water begin to flow! I also ended up adding a OM Squirt to the setup and talked with the guy at OM on how to combine two of the outlets as I only have 3 return outlets on my tank and not four! I could always add one more but it be in a weird place if I did that now! Hmmmmmm???? Anyone think of where I could add just one more return on my tank? I have it drilled upper left and right and one half way down in the middle!

Here is the "BluePrint" For the above mentioned Frag Rack. I will be getting it this weekend finally and am stoked!!! The staining should be done by the weekend. Then the tank can come upstairs and be in its resting place. I can add the sand. Then connect the plumbing and start adding water. Can hardly wait!!!

Well I received the frag Rack and am pretty happy with it. I finished the stain on the stand and am not too sure if I like it or not. Black stain and solid oak don't seem to be my friend! I think it looks good though. All I have to do is build the doors. I have the stand in the living room and also the tank on it as well. I did some things wrong but it should be an easy fix. Here is a pic of it.

Now I can start plumbing in the OM Squirt and the Drain lines and start filling it with water!!!! FINALLY!!!!

looks like quite the sump - i wonder if the multi tank sump is a wisconsin thing?

Well The wife and I decided we didn't like how the tank looked sitting sunken in the stand. Kind of hard to do a nice bowed stand when its all 3/4" solid oak! :D So I took the tank down and built a solid top piece that over hangs the 3 sides. This way the tank looks like its sitting on a table top. Looks much much better! The doors are done but I won't put them on until I am done crawling in through the doors to finish the plumbing.

I got the tank on the top of the stand today. I also added the sand. Tomorrow I will be getting a majority of the plumbing done and should be adding water by Thursday at the latest I think.

I will take some pics tomorrow morning. Looking very good and am happy with how its turning out! Been a long time Coming!

One other change is I came into a Killer Deal on a 250DE Sunlight supply setup. So I will be running 2 250w DE Sunlight supply pendants on this system now. I plan on having some conduit bent up and painted a nice black and affixed to the back of the stand. Then hang the pendants from that. Should look very nice.

you know what...i need to update my build too :) i want water by the second week of next month in mine :)

i think you did the rite thing by putting it ontop of the stand instead.....the only down side is you will see all the sand..

The way it was built before I woudl have seen all the sand! It just didn't like right sitting on the stand. It looks much better. The two things I don't like but think I can get past are: 1. You can see all the bottom Trim. 2. I put some stress mat between the tank and the top of the stand to help if it was a little off from side to side and you can see that.

On a side note put a level on top of the stand and its leverl all ways. But a level on top of the tank on top of the stand and all seems fine!!!! Tomorrow I hope to have a majority of the plumbing done Dave. I would think I will have water in it by Weekend!

Told Wife it would be up and running By next saturday for her Baby Shower!!!!

Eric

Okay I am kind of shocked about this build thread. I was hoping to get some criticism. I know that sounds weird but I love everyones input! It can't be perfect. There has to be some concerns on it!! Anyone??? Bueller Bueller??? LOL
