Fritz Salt Issues?

Fritz user here!
Tank looks great, sps growing, tank is still salty.
Blaming salt is the lamest excuse in the book
Agreed. And putting blame on a salt and posting about it, without even taking some measurements, is misleading IMO.

It doesn't look like Crabs is blaming the salt at all. He is just asking if other have had issues with Fritz salt. It sounds like he has done his due diligence in checking what could be causing his issues. What makes you think all of the people posting what they have went through or what they are going through just assumed it was the salt and changed. You dont think any of us check on other aspects of our tank?

I'm not bashing fritz at all. I had a good year of growth with them. But when the only thing I have changed in my tank was a new batch of salt. Of course I am going to look at that as an option. You saying don't look at the salt as an option is just foolish.

I'm running into issues w/ my anemones after my switch over to Fritz blue box. Tested every week since the change and they have split 4 times and shriveled up and very stressed. Parameters are all in their proper ranges. This is the only thing I've changed on the tank so I can only assume that's the issue but without detailed testing kits or ICP, I can't say 100% for sure its the salt.

@siggy
Not sure what you’re trying to show me? During the save20 and save30 for Labor Day, each time the app showed $99.88, unless the prices are different by region? I’m just trying to figure out how I could have missed it or if it’s just priced differently.

Now this is very interesting.....

I had a small rainbow and large rose. I did some large water changes when I first got my fritz. The rainbow split almost immediately. It was small to begin with but the now smaller two nems aren't extended well. The rose has been huge and fluffy but also just split

Is everyone who is having problems mixing the bag/bucket of salt first in case of settlement before adding to RO?

I had problems with Fritz but it was high magnesium. The tank was up to 1700 by the time I caught it. Fresh mix was over 1900. I have been using Live Aquaria Pro but I suspect as others do that it is just rebranded Fritz. It has about the same price point, same box with different graphics, same tie wrap securing bag etc. Maybe better QC because of contract? I havent had any problems but I am watching like a hawk.

I had the same high magnesium problem with fritz. Emailed them and they pretty much blew me off saying they checked the batch number and it wasn't high, even though I tested with two separate test kits and it was like 1600+. I really like the numbers of what fritz is suppose to mix to and my tank looks great but I just don't trust the salt, especially after reading this thread. So I bought a box of Liveaquaria salt as it has similar numbers. I did email liveaquaria and they told me it wasn't the same salt and isn't made by the same manufacturer. Haven't used it yet but I really hope its consistent and mixes to the stated parameters.

Constructive much? How about you go back and read what the OP actually wrote. Nothing lame about it from the OP's perspective at least how I see it. Few people said (better) or suggested that it could be perceived as bashing the salt but at least how the OP's post goes far from lame nor did they blame the salt.

Question? Yes. As they should and that is what this forum is for.

It's one of the pricier ones, but Tropic Marin seems to be of the highet quality. It mixes so well. No residue, and consistent.

I know I posted an ICP analysis on the Fritz sponsor forum asking for answers after having several issues with my tank when using Fritz. They never answered any of it, but did refund me for the box I purchased. I see now that it has been deleted and no longer exists. That said, the ICP analysis is still in my log

Note the flouride, bromine, lithium, Iodine, Barium, and Manganese levels....they are off the charts bad

More people need to see this.

I just realized they're not a forum sponsor anymore?

Why is it so difficult for people to believe it could be a bad product? Companies make bad stuff all the time, from cars to food to children's toys, so why not salt? They're kinda new in the salt game too, am I wrong? Maybe they need to iron out the kinks in their product?

So IF someone hasn't had issues for say, months or years and nothing has changed in their routine, and then coincidentally switched to salt and had issues, is it really coincidence? Maybe.

But to NOT think it could be the salt and saying someone is lame for thinking that, is itself lame.

Cant open, as it asks for login. Any copy of it on pdf?
Let the games begin folks.

They posted an ss after. Here:

To my knowledge Fritz salt has been in the hobby for some time now. I don't believe they are new by any means.

How long, do you know of? I've only heard of their salt within the past 3-4 years? That's pretty new to me, IMO.

Mind you all, I've used two boxes of Fritz without incident. So I don't have an issue with them. But to hear of people's woes when all they did was simply switch salt, and to salt shame them because they blame the only factor that's changed isn't right. Again, can anyone prove it was the salt? Probably not, but it's what people can point their finger to in the interim and to not think it can't be the one factor is having tunnel vision.

Is something wrong with this analysis or is the Alkalinity really 0?

ATI agreed to test a fresh mix of salt instead of my RO water, so they just said it would be missing alk. So no alk was tested from ICP...but I was more concerned with the detailed analysis as I can test alk easily at home.

And I have a dozen huge BTAs, that don’t seem to care whatsoever about 40% water changes with Fritz. ‍♂️

I use fritz and have zero problems in fact my monti colored up after I switched from Red Sea to fritz. It’s most likely your lighting or lack of light in that area.

Doesn’t explain why their montis were fine before changing salt.

There was a friend of mine who posted Fritz's ICP results and it got moved to their sponsor section (which is now gone by the way). The batch did not look good if I recall.
