Fudsey's 90 gal build

@GoVols This was the first time that the pH dropped below 8 in a while and only the 2nd time I have actually seen it below 8 with weekly testing.

I don't know how long the Alk was low either... I've been testing weekly and it's been consistently between 8-9 with the occasional rise to 9-10 after a water change. In my FOWLR tank I never tested Alk or dosed for it. I just watched pH and used buffer to get it back up when it did drop. So I doubt it did anything to the fish as they were from that tank except for 4 new ones

It seems every time I add new fish, the old ones can't handle it and get sick a couple months later. Not sure if the Anthias came with it or maybe the frogspawn did... Took a couple weeks after frogspawn was added for anything to show up. And the female Anthias were 2 weeks before that...

8 days fallow so far, 68 to go :-)

If its any consolation my alk has been all over the place for the past month. I normally run 8.3 to 8.5 and checked two weeks ago and it was 10.4. Back off the dosing and the alk was falling slowly and bam right back to 10.4. Slowly backing it off again and falling slowly last week. Checked yesterday and the alk was steady at 9.4. Some of the corals are not happy.

I will check again tomorrow, Hopefully I am below 9.

Check out the video, I pulled a couple of things from it, like water levels

That is how I have been doing my test all along. Too bad that video is so redundant. He must have say everything more than once to drive the point home...

lol ;Hilarious ;Hilarious ;Hilarious

Well I guess this tank is now on it's way out.....;);)

Seeing as I won the Waterbox 135.4 giveaway this month I will be starting a new build thread to document it. Still don't know what I'm going to do. I need to figure out what I should do. Move all my corals and rock to a 40B for the time being and start completely fresh? Or use what I have and just move everything over at once. Seeing as the Waterbox is a complete system, do I utilize their sump in my basement or continue with my 40B sump? I moved my sump to the basement to quiet my office as my old under tank sump was extremely loud. I like how it's much quieter in here now.

No matter which way I go, this time the scape is going to be much better. I like the 2 islands but I LOVE the big swim throughs that some tanks have with the rock on "stilts" kinda look. After seeing what @120reefkeeper did with Stax, I am intrigued, to say the least. I will, more than likely, use what rock I have now but just break it up into smaller pieces to give me the design I want. This rock is now getting some nice coralline spots all over it and I would hate to waste it. Too bad my tank is just starting to develop coralline on the back glass.

I hope I will have better luck with my fish in this one. I will still have to continue my fallow period until July if I do use anything from this tank so after the setup it will be fallow until at least then. I have 2 brute containers and a 55 gal blue barrel to put the water in and a 40B that was my rescue tank to move my corals to until the setup is complete.

Now the waiting period begins till when the tank is shipped and arrives. Fortunately, I am having it shipped to my work for ease of delivery. I will have to get some people here to help me move it but at least it can be delivered while I am at work.

Excited to say the least.....:D:D:D

Awesome Win! I’m happy for you Fudsey and I’ll enjoy watching the new build for sure!

@Fudsey
Congrats on winning the Waterbox ;Woot ;Woot

(lol)
That's just awesome news and pumped up over here!! :D

Please keep us updated if you start a new build thread so that we can tag along.

Today I took the rock I had from my rescue tank and broke it into small chunks. This rock was dried outside in the sun last fall until just before the snow started. I then placed it in a rubbermaid barrel, with a lid on it, and put it under my deck. It was a couple of real nice large pieces and a couple smaller ones. It is all now small fist size pieces with a couple about double that. After I broke it up, I started scaping a more minimalist cove type structure for the new tank.

After epoxying a few pieces together, I placed it back in the barrel with 10% bleach and water. I will let it soak for a week and then I will rinse it and soak it in water for a week. After I will let it dry in the sun. By then the new tank should be, at least, in place. The rock was loaded with aiptasia and bristle worms, not to mention what sponges may have also been in it. It definitely needed to be bleached at the least.

I've decided to remove all my corals and live rock and put them in a 40B soon. I can then remove the 90 and get the space ready for the 135.4. I have next week off so I should be able to get most of that done this week. @Waterbox Aquariums is holding my tank so that it will be delivered after the following Monday, the 14th. I am going to get it delivered to my work where we have a loading dock, for ease of delivery. I live on a dirt road and truck delivery is not an easy thing. I can bring home the stand and tank separately so it won't be an issue.

I should have taken a couple pics of the rock in it's early stages but I didn't think of it at the time. I am not worried about getting it back in the same place as I was still just messing around with it. I liked where it was heading but wanted to get it in bleach asap.

Oh and today is also our 27th wedding anniversary, good thing I have an understanding wife :)

Congrats on 27 years Fudsey! We have our 27th on June 1st!

Marriage is kinda like a reef tank. Takes a lot of work and cost a lot. Plenty of maintenance, ups and downs.

But I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Happy Anniversary!

Today's parameters:

Alk - 8.01
pH - 8.2
PO4 - .086
Ca - 430
Mg - 1400
NO3 - 8

LPS look great SPS not so much, all are basically done. Not sure what caused it except the Alk swing but I figured they would bounce back. No such luck....

I don't think this tank was made for SPS... Hopefully, once the 135 is up and running, it will be a different story. I don't think I will put any in it for a while though but we'll see...

Just found this out and I am perplexed.... Waterbox uses metric plumbing.... WHY ? ? ?

This is going to make my plumbing of the new tank into my basement a real pain

I already have 1 1/4" & 1" pvc run through the floor for my drains and return and had hoped to utilize it. Now I am unsure what I am going to do.

I guess only time will tell once the tank gets here and I can physically see it.
