So what did you raise NO3 and PO4 to?

I now run nitrates at 10 and PO4 varies around .08 to 1.0. I really don't test PO4 all that often. I keep an eye on NO3 by testing and watching coral colors. If they start to lighten I add a little KNO3 as needed.

. 05 phos and about 3 nitrate. I made a new 187 setup with turf scrubber and fuge so I have to fight to keep nutrients in the water column.

Weekly water changes only reduce your problem by the % of the water change you do. And you don't necessarily need to do a weekly water change if your parameters are in line.

Many advice I received over the years that had their value depending on what I was facing it the time. One I remember most (mostly a process not on advice) was when I was having issues i couldn't pinpoint or solve:
Observe, question things u observe, check eqch and every component of ur setup, review ur usual tank practice. Come up with a plan (review that plan and discuss with us many people as u can, change one thing at a time and observe changes things till u get there.

Hands down the best advice I've received that every newcomer will eventually need to know: when you have algae problems, don't focus on the algae, focus on the actual problem, your parameters and what the algae is eating, get those down and with a bit of manual removal, you beat the algae easily.

regarding peroxide, its not that you should be dosing it often or everyday...its that peroxide is among the most handy reef tools ever discovered and we use it to save thousands of tanks from algae invasion, and prevent algae invasion in thousands of others where the tank arrangements aren't ideal, and algae grows.

we always try to design systems that don't need peroxide

but when its called for, its nearly unbeatable as a tool. its use in the tank isn't poisonous even in generous doses (though we calculate carefully how much to add per custom job, its still a burning oxidizer) and its use in limited invasion scenarios has literally been game changing for sure. I cannot possibly count the number of tanks we saved, and keepers we made happy, in our searchable peroxide threads there are thousands.

my own tank doesn't need peroxide for algae treatment, they were all killed off using peroxide in the early years. nowadays I use it a few times a year to wipe the inside of my tank down when the water is drained, this burns off the microalgae nicely and holds a while.

peroxide use in the reef has self-upgraded from totally heretical by everyone who read about it (see my early 2010 threads lol) to barely acceptable 2 yrs ago to rather commonplace now. it had to work against the grain lol / flow.

Thanks for the input! I'm in the middle of treating with Dino-X so I'll try the peroxide when the 21 days is up. Heck maybe the Dino-X is simply peroxide at an inflate price

the tuna ABI bulb 12 w off amazon is probably the most important pico reef specific hardware ever made. it allowed Maritza to turn on about fifteen thousand vase reefists, all due to cheap LED that for sure grows corals~ 25$

I actually finished reading a many posts, a book, etc. by @Paul B after an Ich outbreak where I was previously performing rigorous quarantine. I adopted Paul's approach to fishkeeping on March 1, and my fish have been ich-free since April 1, new members of the tank haven't showed any symptoms. When I purchase a new fish I place in "observation tank" and spend time feeding blackworms, white worms, homemade fish food (I get leftovers, guts, etc. from local store) and brine shrimp. It has been a success thus far.
