Gimmito's 450 Gal L-Shaped Display

It depends on the sea grass used. I used shoal grass (Halude Wrightii sp). As for substrate, I used a 2" bed of Eco complete by CaribSea and another 3" mixed sand bed on top of it. The shoal grass derives it's nutrients from the Eco complete and requires strong flow and good lighting.

I started adding a cleanup crew... I was getting a little bored of looking at rock, sand, & water.

I added 10 cleaner shrimp, 6 fire shrimp, 10 trochus snails, & 10 nassarius snails.

Thats awesome! Are all the shrimp visible in that big tank or do they just disappear? Nice frags. Getting close to having this thing full.

The shrimp can easily get lost in a tank this big, but quite a few of them seem to like hanging out on that one atoll. Funny story, one large cleaner shrimp actually got stuck under part of the rock (on top of the atoll). I had to get a screw driver to break off a piece of the rock to free it...I guess shrimp aren't the sharpest tool in the ocean. :squigglemouth:

I'm getting some nice frags from club members and swaps. So far the red planet, pink sand dollar, tri color valida, & purple monster are some of my favorites.

Nice angel! I reading back and was wondering why you went with shoal grass in fuge? I ask now because I just saw a show on animal planet about the ocean reefs and it seems there are usually huge fields of sea grass near reefs, specificly the great barrier reef. So I was thinking of switching my chaeto to sea grass.

Thanks Bige. I wanted to try something different w/the shoal grass and red macro algae. I had chaeto in th FT and it just got everywhere.

What I find most interesting, is you have so much room in your tank, yet there are 6-7 critters in a relativly small part of your tank. You have like 5 shrimp and a fish and you don't even move the camera that much. Nice fish by the way.

It does seem that the blueface angel and assorted shrimp have taken to the right atoll. I think they know food is never to far off. :wink:

The drain from the fuge is on that side also, and pods and whatnot may be flowing freely to them.

I picked up 10 Seale cardinalfish and 6 McCoskers wrasse from my buddy Mike (via Quality Marine).

That's crazy! Can't wait to see them in. Wonder if they will pick one spot to stick with like the angel.

The cardinalfish will definitely school and be in the open. I think the wrasses will hide initially, but will come out in time.
