Glass Cleaning Magnets

How is it that the Tunze is safer around the silicone than the Flipper?

The end that scrapes is rounded off. It contours to the silicone in the corners so it doesn't damage it. I like the design. I see the other manufacturers copying that in the future.

Great white is hard to use cause it's so strong. Needs a real thick glass.

Imo, the Algae Free line of magnets are by far the best. The Great White also doesn't float, but the Tiger Shark does. Super strong!

You have to make sure you get the right size for your tank. I think if you put one of those on a smaller tank it could shatter the glass. I've never felt a stronger magnet.

Yes! One of the best but can scratch the glass easily. You can get a blade but the back end of the magnet can pick up particles.

I have the nano tunze scraper- i love that thing.

I use the acrylic pads for my glass tank it is easier on the glass. I also have a back with the scraper and a back without the scraper. I only use the scraper for any tough to remove spots all the rest of the time I just use the regular back.

I also leave it put up when I'm not using it just so no one else in the house decides to start running it all over the tank glass. I make sure and keep it clean between uses too.

Yes, you have to make sure and get the correct size for your glass thickness. I use a tiger shark for my 3/4 glass and it glides easily across my 6 foot tank.

I ordered a tunze long. I’ll update how it works on my 1/2in glass in a couple days.

Tunze long is weak. Get the tunze strong it's same size but magnet is stronger and works a lot better. I did end up not using it anymore. Went back to algae free I find it not strong enough to remove some tough algae stains.

Hey so my review wont be a constant for everyone. I have 12mm glass which is .472 inches thick. My Tunze Long came today so I went ahead and gave it a go. My tank is new still so I am not scraping coraline or anything. Its just film algae on the glass and tons of it.

The Tunze Long worked perfectly for this situation. It had plenty of magnetic power and never came off the glass. It also had no problem going to the side panels from the front panels so I didnt have to get wet. I moved it back and forth quite quickly and it never fell off. I did drop it in the water and yes it does not float. Oh well. Overall really like it. I just left the plastic blades on for now. Ill try out the metal one down the road if I need more scraping power.
