Glass Cleaning Magnets

Wow....so many opinions on the cleaning magnets....seems like its Flipper, Tunze, or Hammerhead/TigerShark.
I may go Tunze based on fear of the silicone in the corners with the flipper and prevents scratching of glass for the most part....especially since my kids like to clean the glass.

I like the Tunze Care because it lets you remove the algae at the bottom of the tank, top of sand because of its unique design. Never had a worry about picking up a few grains and scratching my tank which was always a concern with other types of scrapers.

I recently started using the tunze. Replaced my old magfloat. Tunze is one of my favorite gifts I ever received for my tank. Does a great job and no fear of scratching the glass.
I use the tunze strong on my 250.

Tunze Care magnets for the win!

I have used Flipper Max, Flipper and right now change to Tunze long.

Mine is 1/2 inch starphire glass and Flipper Max caused me some scratches. Flipper Max's magnet is just too strong and it is hard to move with 1/2 inch thickness. Regular Flipper is OK, but the magnetic force is on the weak side. I never used the felt side on Flipper, since I know it will cause me more scratches if I am not paying attention using it...

I used these Flippers for almost 2 years. And now I changed to Tunze. The points of contact are lesser compared to flipper, so less chance for scratching. Tunze long magnet is stronger than the regular Flipper, but less than the flipper Max. Perfect for 1/2 inch thickness. And Tunze has long (steel) and short blade (plastic) on both sides, easier to clean some restricted area.

Now I gotta see just how pricey these tunzes are. Thanks !

I use the flipper.. works fine.. Anyone try that robot version? Kinda like the rumba for glass??

Ok, only 35 bucks for the Tunze long. When I hear tunze I think $$$ . So those with the tunze long magnet scrappers. Ya happy with the magnet strength for 1/2 inch glass? Thanks

My tank is 1/2in and I keep wanting to buy the Tunze long as well but I keep feeling like it’s not going to be strong enough for harder stuff. Plus if you move it fast it might lose its grip and sink.... maybe someone has a personal experience though.

I'm with MO, Iv'e always ended up with a wimpy magnet .

My glass is 1/2 inch and tunze long is perfect for me. not too strong and not too weak. If using stronger one as flipper max while you move it too fast, the flipper is jumping all the time... Don't know if it is the same as for tunze.

I don't have much coraline algae on glass so my input on harder stuff for tunze might not be valid. But from dust, diatom, green film algae to small patch of coraline, tunze long did perfect with me.

Thanks for that info that helps a lot.

I've had all the ones listed here. I've manged to scratch my tank somehow even with the Tunze Care, but I think it is the better option. If it's glass, apparently I can scratch the heck out of it with a marshmallow.
