Getting back in after about 1.5yr break. For those who dont know i left the hobby because we were planning a move and after much consideration it was best and easier for me to just sell off. Now things are settling down at the new house so its time to start getting back in.

So far the plan is to start small with frag and QTs and eventually put a bigger DT in the dining room on the same wall as the frag/QT in the garage. Im sure this will come with some challenges as i have never put tanks in a garage before. My initial concern was heat during summer but the garage seemed to stay very cool during the summer was suprised. May need to add some fans for those really hot days and Luis brought up that it might get to humid in the garage guess will have to figure it all out then. Would like to hear any other problems and solutions you guys have dealt with having tanks in a garage.

Dining room where DT may go later.

RO/DI in utility room to the left of the garage wall. Will run the outlet to garage through the wall and into a container.

Used those shelves and wood to build a 8x2 stand for all the tanks and just general work and storage area.

Nice! I had my external pumps, chiller and frag tank in the garage when we lived in Knoxville. That was a basement type garage and I never had any issues with heat. Some of my tools did seem to rust a lot faster though if the metal was exposed.

the rust and tools was a huge problem for me as well... currently in process of changing my setup to remove tank stuff from garage

Coming right along. I think I enjoy construction as much as the finished product with this hobby lol.

So much done today. Hooked up ro/di drilled hole in wall from laundry to garage to a brute 32g. Painted the back wall in garage. Painted tank and sump back walls. Addded some supports to stand. Drilled tank siliconed overflow and baffles on sump. Added styrafoam board under tank and sump.
