Good Morning!

Good morning! Replacement LED is arriving today. I hope my tank doesn't freak out....I'm still thinking about how to best manage the light without shocking half the tank. The right side of the tank has basically been running off the blues only since last Thursday (bad driver, apparently). I feel like I'm going to need to ramp everything down, but the left side may not like that. Ugh, decisions, decisions. This is my last work day until Monday, so I guess I have some time to mess with the light fixture.

Right now, there is no decision to be made. I have already decided....I need coffee. NOW! Have a great day! ;Joyful

Good Morning!!
I am so stoked!
i have a route picked out for the weekend, I have reservations, the yard is mowed, i have everything i need for the trip, i have plenty of time today and tomorrow to detail the bike so she looks her best. I slept last night with the windows open which is the most restful way there is, if you hear more crickets than traffic, and there is a smile on my face today.
I hope you find more joy than aggravation in your day. If it doesn't work out that way i hope you can chalk it up to another one of those days that you won't have to do later. the frozen is melting, fishies!! the light brings breakfast!!
I'll wave as you go by. :)

Good Morning. I got out of bed an hour ago and was looking out the window at the total darkness so I didn't really have to waste energy opening my eyes.

Now it is starting to get a little light but I won't go on my walk today. These old legs need a day off occasionally or I will start to grow fins.

Today is my closest friends wedding anniversary. They live next door and our decks are connected. Fifty years ago they got married. I was in the army so I am 2 years behind them. We will help them celebrate today at a restaurant. Normally we would do this on our boats but my boat is still broken. ;Meh

My beautiful wife is holding the glass up on top.

I actually know them longer than I know my own wife as she was one of the "girls" in my crowd then along with Lincoln.

Her family is coming in from California. Imagine, half a century! Today most couples don't last fifty weeks.

For their 40th anniversary we had a bunch of boats tied together and they dressed in "formal" bathing suits that looked like gowns and suits. I dressed in a Captain Stubing (from the Love Boat, google it) outfit.
I had the Capt hat on and shirt.`

We had a news caster there who is a friend of ours and I performed the ceremony on the swim platform of that boat which was all decorated in wedding "stuff". (I am a Captain so I could do this even though it was a Spoof)

There were many "guests" (onlookers) We played the music from the Love Boat show. It was a really special time and memory. Hard to think it was 10 years ago.

Good morning everyone!

Hopefully I got it right. After yesterday, I had to write sentences (what an unpleasant memory). I always hated writing sentences.

Good morning.
My new overflow is on the way. It appears to be spending a week in Memphis, Tn. I hope is has a good time.
My anti dog armor came for the car. I have to pick up Chewy and Dyson for a visit so Kirk and Jane can attend a wedding. I had to take the seat out, cover it and put it back. Then I couldn't move anymore.

Living here for almost 3 years, I am more scared of drivers than tornadoes. It never makes the news, unless someone dies.

I think we get one telephone pole hit per day. Maybe even more.

I didn't sleep a wink last night. Oh well, breakfast, coffee and the loved ones bring much comfort!

Good morning everyone!

Imagine, half a century! Today most couples don't last fifty weeks.
I don't even know if they last that. People get divorced right after the ceremony.

Big congratulations to you and your friends! In my own opinion, nothing is quit as beautiful as a long marriage. That's real work. Or, the ability to easily forget the spouse is there.

Good morning.
I’m questioning the safety of the college (SIU) my daughter is at. First week of school and over the weekend a freshman girl was shot and killed while at an “on campus” house party. And 3 others wounded. It was not at any dorms but a house that is located on the campus. My daughter was not at this party, thank goodness. Police said there were multiple shooters and no one in custody yet. There were both students and non students at this party.
And last year some gang members drove through the campus shooting at each other.
My daughter said gangs are becoming a real problem in Carbondale,IL. My daughter and her friends never go out at night by themselves and always have a buddy with them. Especially off campus. It’s very scary and sad ! As a parent I don’t know what else we can do but tell her to be extra careful.

It is interesting to think about the fact that if these same people driving through the campus shooting it up, apply. They will be given a free ride through collage.

One time I added it up and there were a total of over 400 years of active marriages going between Jill and my immediate families. Her parents were married over 60 years and so where mine.
I think long marriages are just learned behavior like most other things.

Hugs. I know how worried you are. My daughter turned 20 this weekend and then disappeared for several days. She would not respond to texts or calls. All we could find was that she has been receiving large sums of money deposited to her account directly from PayPal over the last several months and that she spent some money in Miami. She apparently returned for 30 minutes to Sarasota yesterday but then left again. We don't know where she went and the source of the ~ $9k in cash remains a mystery. All we can surmise is that is can't be good. We know that she runs with a bad crowd since she started hanging out at Kava Bars.
This is why I have not been posting all week. Honestly, it's hard to be sociable when you are worried sick about your kid. Nothing anyone can say will take away your anxiety when you read about some idiot shooting up a party at your kids school. I have heard people say that empty nesting was this great freedom - woo hoo! I call BS. It's hell worrying where they are, who they are with and all of the unknown variables that you cannot control. Someone told me to let go of the things I can't control. I challenge that while I understand the logic ... that is not in a parents DNA.
God Bless and I hope they catch the idiots that did this. I am sure that everyone in the student body is feeling emotionally drained right now. Hang in there.
Sigh... I have a job interview in a few hours and I am just not in the right headspace. All I can think about is my daughter.

What lessons has your aquascape taught you?

Rocks are heavy. Especially big ones.

The purpose of my aquascape is to let the fish that is the size of a salad plate escape the fish that is the size of a dinner plate when it gets snitty. And everyone needs a place to sleep at night.

So sorry you have to go through this! I hope you hear from her soon and everything is ok! As a parent we never stop worrying about our children, no matter how old they become. Please send me a pm if you ever just want to talk or need someone to listen.

I am so sorry about your situation. We have 2 girls, one 15 and one 19. Talking about our 15 year old, a neighbor (who does not have children) said to some others at a party that we were way too up-tight about our daughter because we always want to know where she is going and with who and what she's up to with her boyfriend. We shouldn't worry so much because it's time to let go to let her take risks and solve her own problems. As for our 19 year old, we were too worried about the fact that a girl on campus was sexually assaulted in a building across the street. "Get her some mace. She'll be fine". I told her that she clearly had no idea of what she was talking about. I was furious.

To end with something positive, I hope everybody is doing well. The weather is good here. Cloudy, so not too hot! The UPS guy came to the door a few minutes ago and my dogs did not freak out, which was nice. The algae has started to go away in my tank and I realized that I have never had any corals die. Awesome! Finally, although I am relatively new here, it's nice to have a group of people online that are willing to listen to you about your bad days and good, offering support and congratulations when needed without judgement. I think it's great that we are from different backgrounds and live different lives, but all come together here. Have a wonderful day everyone!

I love this, even if it was 10 years ago! Well, my age might show, but I loved the Love Boat and certainly remember Captain Stubing. In fact, we love to cruise (well, we used to before "it") and our cruise line of choice blasts the Love Boat theme departing harbor. Nothing like cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale in January heading for the Caribbean with the Love Boat theme sounding over the ship horns. ;Joyful Congrats to your friends for now 50 years! :)

Good Morning. I got out a little early this morning, about 5:40. Before the sun came up. I waited until it got bright enough to take this picture about 6:00

Early morning.JPG

Nothing exciting happened. I only saw one anemic deer, no muskrat Sally's (which are really woodchucks) and a few rabbits which don't run from me any more. This "horse farm/ranch"

I am a city boy so I am not sure what they are called but this was for rescue horses and retired police horses. It closed about last fall and since then, the weeds are up to my neck.

IMG_4724 (1).JPG

There used to be no sign of vegetation when the horses were eating the stuff.
