Quick question however, did you have some kind of negative event or symptom possibly caused by carbon additions?

Carbon dosing can be the fuel for good bacteria and bad bacteria.
But if went back to carbon dosing it would be vinegar too.

Ok give up the goods on that RO Reactor. I've been a cheapy and have been using a regular BRS reactor for my biopellets. I have the flow rate dialed in perfectly to where they only turnover maybe a few times a day, but because I have it screwed to the wall, the top leans out a little bit causing most of the media in the front of the reactor to get hung up, needing me to shake it once every couple of days. I'm definitely a fan of RO's skimmers, so how are their reactors?

I'm using it to "suspend" the Purgien but my local reef shop has the bigger model for bio-pellets.
The RO definitively keeps the media tumbling and is built like a tank. Very high quality and an brilliant design to keep bio-pellets tumbling.

With me using Purigen is a breeze to re-charge.

If figured so, since your already back on the Blue Bucket.

If you go Bare Bottom, Remove the sand real slow. ( 3 to 4 week period)
Could release some phosphates and it's gives the bacteria time to colonize back into your live rock too.

That asterina outbreak ate all the coralline off my BB floor last fall, but it's coming back, real fast.
The way your setup grows coralline, your bottom could be covered in no time.

Still miss Diamond Golbys and it's your call but I'm not going back to a sand bed.

You've got plenty of time to sleep on it.

It's something I definitely hem and haw over, I painted the bottom of my tank black just in case I went bare bottom.. SO it was always on my mind haha. I actually scraped almost all the coralline off. There's about a good 1/3 of it left that I can't really reach but it's made a tremendous difference in my pictures.. The purple wall was the thing throwing off my full tank shots the whole time.

I also hit the sand with a turkey baster in the back corner I can never really reach... Had to put a sock on, went from white to dark brown in under 5 minutes, so I'll be adding the corners to the rotation of sand cleansing.

Just an fyi...
My wife will not let me grow coralline on the back glass anymore.
She says we lose the contrast of the back wall and she likes being able to see the fish swimming against it's background in open water.

Well,
We brought the GFO reactor back online last Friday night. (Decided to go with 1/3 of a cup, of Rowaphos)

Results: ;Writing
Film algae is showing up less frequently on glass and almost totally gone from the bare bottom floor.

Holding the coarse... ;Stop
