Shipping, including box, styros and heat packs and such will run me at least 45.00 probably closer to 55 but Ill settle for 45.00 the math ive seen in this thread looks good to me was like 25.00 for the frag 45.00 for shipping and 10.00 for the contest prize?

Looks good. Are you willing to hold the prize money for the winner to get a battle box? How many frags can you cut?

I think I'm going to make a simple form for everyone to fill out with contact info and whatever tank info people want to give. But we need to see how many frags are going to be available first. Stay tuned!

I am leaning towards $75 (for coral+prize+shipping), I think if we do $100 there will be less people participating. But if anybody has input I'd love to hear it.

No info before. Get the frag. Grow it six months. Than the data analysis.
If your kh is usually 12 or 7. Phos zero or 1. Temp 78 or 80. Vortec,gyre,eight dollar power head, water changes or none, LED MH or T5. Growth is measurable.
What works. What clearly doesn’t. This should be a great study. I hope I don’t come in last.

I think that is a fair trade. Keep the information blind til the end. Chances are people who drop out along the way will have no incentive to post anymore.

I am more interested in this from a 'scientific' perspective, as i doubt seriously I will be able to compete against some of you more experienced reefers, BUT i am hoping to put up a good showing for the Ole' School keep it simple crew.

Ooh just thought this up! You could post a poll with pictures showing size etc same general guidelines Adam uses if there are a few that come down to the wire.

I am sure i can do at least 35-40 tops. if you guys want to lock in 35 contestants for sure, and have maybe 5 more on standby, I think we are ready to roll. These can all ship after the holidays no problem.

Cash prize would be cool, but I like the idea of the prize being a battle pack, since Adam is already giving us a deal on the contest piece, and potentially taking a hit on the shipping.

Also, I think it would be least complicated and most efficient if the prize money was held by Adam. There would be fewer transactions that way.

Is there any chance we could see a picture of the colony before you frag it? I think it would be a very cool picture to have in the documentation of the contest.

I feel like seeing the colony in all it’s glory, then taken down to little frags, then the pictures of everyone growing there little nubs into colony’s over the next 6 months, would be like the ultimate hero’s journey, but for coral.
