Thanks for replying, it also seems not to want stay in one spot.

How long have you had it for ?

Not necessary but it is bleached.

I have brought them back from bleached if there are still a little zooxanthellae left in them or sometimes they can uptake from the water column but it is not always easy.
It will need to be fed so it has energy till the zooxanthellae recover. If it is not eating it will be hard.

So how would I get it to stay in one spot at this point?

If you barely got yesterday give it 2 weeks to find a spot and adjust to the new system.

No I meant I got it on Feb 4 should have been clearer.

is it not attaching or is it moving?

If it is not attaching with these it is most likely a goner. I have seen a few not attach and not one made it.. I am thinking they get a small rip in the foot or it is either that or they do not have the energy to attach..

If it is moving it is not happy with something. It could be water perimeters, lighting, flow etc.

So if it hadn’t attach in the past 6 days it’s a goner.

Most likely if it is not attached.

To me malus and crispas can be hard because they usually come in so bad.
Problem is most people do not know they are bleached and think they are pretty and buy them that way. They are not to hard to keep if bought healthy but I would say in 30 plus years in the hobby 80 percent of the malus look bad and probably 60 percent of the crispas look bad. They come in worse shape than any other anemone. Next would be magnificas, they sometimes come in so big collecting has to be hard and so does shipping them..

Where are you trying to attach it?

It's a sand dweller.

It's badly bleached, and I'm not even sure a malu, may be a crispa, but it can recover, mysis a couple times a week as mentioned will help regain color.

It also will not like a lot of light while so bleached, so place near a ledge would be best so it can pull in or out of light as needed.

So basically from what your saying is most of the time buying malus, they will die from the average hobbiest care and to avoid buying them, Also other topic how long can a small haddons carpet stay in a 32 gallon before you need to sell it or trade it in somewhere else?

There’s no specific growth rate for nems. It depends on the whole tank and the nem itself

Nothing of any sort came out of my mouth or typing, no, not at all what I said.

I love malus, my favorite sand dweller for mixed reefs.

You sound too quick to throw in towel.

I did say also I think it's a crispa, not a malu

Hadonni can be even trickier actually, and probably too big for that size tank

So typically would all of the hosting anemones outgrow a 32 gallon tank?

That is true Malus are sand dwellers..
Hard to tell what it is unless seeing the underside... I sometimes can tell a crispa from its tentacles if they look like a crispa but sometimes when a crispa is not well it tentacles looks like a malus.

Na a Bubble tip anemone would be fine and is by far one of the easier ones to start with.

So why is it sebea anemones come in so bad compared to the other anemones like carpets, or bubble tip anemones?
