H malu

So why is it sebea anemones come in so bad compared to the other anemones like carpets, or bubble tip anemones?

Sebae is just most common, and really not a proper ID since it covers 2 very different types of anemone, crispa, and malu, both very different in size and lighting/flow needs.

Many nems are poor shippers and take some effort to bring back to proper health

That is true Malus are sand dwellers..
Hard to tell what it is unless seeing the underside... I sometimes can tell a crispa from its tentacles if they look like a crispa but sometimes when a crispa is not well it tentacles looks like a malus.

Na a Bubble tip anemone would be fine and is by far one of the easier ones to start with.

Easier in more forgiving to light and water params, yes, just that they wander the most by far, that is the challenge w/ BTA's, keeping from walking all over rock and stinging corals in their path

So typically it’s better to buy nems from the lfs vs ordering them online and having them slowly decline and die from shipping.

It can be hard to tell sometimes, and agree when not happy even harder, especially when both are small.

Crispa will stand up and stretch for light, malu will lay low and flat, not as light needy.

Crispa gets to 2 feet in diameter, malu 8-10", so it is kind of important to know which you have based on tank size alone, but light and flow for crispa is much stronger than malu

Well, they are shipped to LFS, so not exactly, but it is nice to see in person.

Divers den is what you see you get, so usually that is a good option, though they sometimes mis ID.

Honestly bringing a bleached anemone back to health is not that difficult, if it was a species I wanted, it would not stop me.
I've brought many bleached nems back to health

How do you know if it’s to a point of unrecoverable state?

Crispas and malus are not real hard if they are healthy when you get them..
They come in damaged allot though..
Haddoni are not suitable for most a small tanks because they are fish eaters and in a small tank have a much better chance to grab a fish unless it only has clowns.

This was my crispa that I had for many years until a unfortunate accident in a move..
This one is pretty easy to tell it is a crispa.. It almost doubled in size from the video

Oh, so that is the main reason why they are not good in smaller tanks cause they will eat your fish, also are there any other anemones besides carpets that are known fish eaters?

They get big too...

There are a few.. I have had Stichodactyla tapetum eat fish..

Hadonni have a stronger sting and sticky tentacles more than others, so small space makes hard to not touch them.
They do have the worst rep for getting fish.

I think you should chill and take care of what you have, feed mysis twice weekly, see what it does

Oh so mini carpet anemones eat fish like their larger cousins?

I had a very good experience with LA for a malu. It arrived with decent color and was fully inflated in the bag. Had to peel it from the bag and then from the bucket after acclimation. It attached almost immediately on introduction and hasn't budged since.

Cool, I was wondering if that one was yours or an LFS pic or something.
Get some good pics, maybe a thread to follow it's color and what it does.

I love malus, such a great mixed reef anemone, perfect size, location, great colors!

Y’all have any experience with corkscrew anemones or hellfire anemones?
