Yeah I don’t understand what could be wrong, I got some zoas the same day as the hammer and those are all open and looking good.

Zoas are hardier and easier then hammers, and doesn’t require water parameters to be up to par as zoas... have you previously had experience with keeping corals?

Ah, ok. Next time do research before buying corals or taking corals from friends. Coral keeping requires alot of patience. If you perform reseach, not only will you understand the coral, you will also not hurt any corals. There’s a lot of good information here on this site, and also alot of good members to help. Goodluck with your reef keeping.

I have my hammers I'm my sandbed in a fluval 13.5 gallon evo with just the standard return pump so not a great deal of flow and the standard led light and they all open up fine. The reason I suggested to put it in a lower flow area, was because with the amount of sharp skeleton showing, the flow would push the flesh that does come out against it and it will not extend as much.
