Hammer, frammer, What is this Coral ID?

Hey,

I bought this as a hammer coral. As it gets bigger (quickly!) and as I’ve gotten some other other hammers I notice the tentacles and general look don’t match the other hammers. It’s def branching. Is this a “frammer?” It does have interesting green and purple swirl coloration.

Seriously though, corals are animals. Not all look identical. Yours looks just fine
As an example, not all bubble tip anemones have the "bubble tip"
As your coral grows, you do water changes, have changes in lighting, the traditional "hammer" may come and go.

The two frags in the front are Hammers, the frag in the back is a Frammer. There’s a slight difference in the tips as a Frammer looks more frogspawn tip vs the anchor look.
I’m no expert by any means but your picture does look like one of my Frammers.

I totally agree. I don’t think mines a hammer!

That what makes me say Frammer. They are pretty rare now or at least not seen often, so I say awesome score!!!

Wow! I knew something was off with it, lol. Thanks for checking for me! I got it in a CC live sale, “splatter hammer”. It’s gone from one to five heads in one year. I wonder what a heads worth.

The way Euphyllia prices have jumped I’d say $75 to $100 a head is definitely not out of line and possibly even more.

Depends on where you live here in the Chicago land area hammers go for $10-$15 a head

Yea for Hammers, but his is a Frammer which is a hybrid of a Hammer and a Frogspawn. Check the link in the post earlier as when they where first introduced they went for $250 a head.
