Hammer, frammer, What is this Coral ID?

Interesting. So we have a 100% it’s a hammer and a 100% it’s a frammer so far.

Zoom in on the split tentacles and it’s a Frammer. @Acro76 seeing your the first one I believe to introduce the Frammer what’s your thoughts on the OP picture?

Couple more images I dug up.

The one shows it next to a conventional, If brightly colored, hammer. The other is older but shows the frammer tentacles better like Hitman was saying, I think.

I didn't know there was such thing as a Frammer. I just assumed it's just a hammer growing oddly/abnormally?

I got this at LFS for 10 dollars...it has some strange tentacles too...can see them bottom left.

Idk?

I honestly don't know what any of my euphyllia are...they were bought as no namers or came on live rock.

I guess I should make a thread to get some IDs.

A lot of Frammers came out of MN. I got mine from a guy south of the twin cities.

“Frammers” aren’t new (just learned the term from this thread), and nobody “introduced” them. Like I said earlier, I’ve had some in my tank for the past 15 years. The new part is calling it toxic Aussie splatter frammer and charging $350 for it. The coral itself has always been around.

No one said its new, and as you can see in my earlier post about them from 2012 which is the guy that did the first write up and introduced them to the R2R community.

Yea I’m not sure why there has been such a increase in people derailing topics lately. Bottom line in you have a beautiful coral that you got for a great price and is different.

No one said frammers are new or recently introduced, no one said it’s worth $350, and pics of yours or it didn’t happen. Thx.

Thanks man. Idk. I think the one guy is jealous of the price he made up for it. Beats me. They might not be new, but they might be rare in imports today. I don’t see too many for sale.

You def should! Sometimes you find out you’ve got something unusual that way, and it’s fun to show them off a bit. You might have a frammer, like hitman said, they’ve been around awhile, but they can take a lot of different forms, and might be a hybrid.

Okay. Glad I asked for pics bc it didn’t happen, as I expected. No frammers. Apparently you don’t understand what we are talking about, bc I don’t think you’d troll us... Thanks for clearing it up tho, and you have grown a lot of nice hammer branches.

Maybe side by side can help. I don’t know what I have but it’s def not the same as yours.

I circled some individual tentacles that make me feel that it’s different than a hammer and maybe a frammer.

Whatever it is, I just find it interesting to learn and share about the possible morphologies/speciation/variability.

Agreed, and thanks, and you’re right, it doesn’t really matter what it is, but many things in this hobby are only because some of us find them interesting, right?
