HELP alk way low

might try putting the hermint in a breeder box and see if the damage stops getting worse, tho i think its to high for him to reach in the first place

I've had this happen before. I wouldn't freak. In my experience, frogspawn is very resilient. If your parameters had a drastic change, it's just adjusting to it. But, please believe me that that coral can withstand extreme nutrients and swings.

First impression on that first photo makes me think of too much flow to that area, though. If not it might be getting ready to grow new heads.

Supose i did forget to mention its growing a new bud and splitting at the same time

Ok, heres where Im confused/confounded by the problem. There was what appeared to be a "Patch" of funk on the stalk that then peeled away to expose skeleton.
that woild say infection bacteria etc.
flow to that area,
or this. low flow not blowing it off.
THX Foxx.

at the same time its growing a baby.

Ive seen colonies as big as a basketball that were grown under low CAL. the bones are brittle, you use a fingernail to scrape into the bone.
I suppose its possible it had weak bones before you got it.

I dont want give knee jerk reactions but if it's an infection Iodine or coral RX, etc dip might help.

There was never a "patch" one day i noticed a small hole in the tissue at the base (this might be the "patch" you seeing) and it has just grown and not healed. The flow to that area is the same it has always been.

I cut my frogspawn out of my "infested" tank. I left the base which was maybe 2cm in hieght. A week later it regrew 4 new baby heads.

hmmm so if the alk is fine im wondering why my acans arent opening and this frogspawn is having its issues

Was open yesterday, didnt open today. Unfortunately i have to go out of town tonight for work so i did a 25% wc and put the hermit in a breeder box and now im just crossing my fingers and hoping when i get home tommorow night things are going well.

I find my hermit perched in my colony. I worried at first until I witnessed an astrea snail cruz up the same colony. I think algae can sometimes grow on the stocks. But, hermits never have tried to eat the colony, I don't think. I think your tank will be fine. Might need to start monitoring Alk levels between morning and night. You might be gaining some uptake that would require you to begin dosing.

a critter perhaps... unless had a huge fluctuation in alk... if you said your sps were acting out I would worry about alk... but lps are far more forgiving... i would look to other factors

I agree with this too. Also keep in mind that LPS close up when they grow new heads or polyps. I always try to give myself 3 days of monitoring before any type of worry should set in.
