Is the grouper still at the restaurant?

That's been there since I bought him. Is that not normal ? My groupers eyes are not cloudy. Just the behavior issue and the fins. I started the melafix treatment today. Hopefully I have good results

The front on picture looks symmetrical. He just has a very odd nose. He looks like he's been through the wringer though. Those fins shouldn't be bent over like that and it's usually a sign of a water quality issue or a diet issue. Even though he's been on an unhealthy diet all this time, I'm leaning towards it being environment related, as the grouper is also not acting normal.
 
Yea I've seen other panther groupers and they stay swimming and move around a lot, I'm hopping this treatment gets him going again. Now that I think of it. He was sitting on the bottom when I bought him at the pet store too

Hopefully we can get them over this bump and then we'll work on diet. It's a big step to have them off the Goldfish. Don't feed too much, as your tank is still relatively new for all of that and could cause additional problems. Don't feed whatever is cooked in that pack and if you could get some salmon, that would be great. Don't feed anyone until their bellies go down.
 
That's a pretty fish. I think ur right mines been through some stuff Just by looking at those fins

I have zero interest in lionfish or groupers, but this is really interesting and educational. How terribly sad that the person who sold the lionfish told him to feed goldfish when that doesn't even sound like an optimum diet. But I'm extremely glad it was posted so that wrongs can be righted.

Regarding the salmon recommended, does it matter if it's Pacific or Atlantic, wild caught or farmed?

Oh, and I just had a thought, I love triggers and will have at least a clown trigger one day, so it sounds like I'll want to research their diet so I don't have a problem. :D It was soooo tempting to buy a tiny clown trigger a month ago, but I was afraid he'd get big enough to start eyeballing my clownfishes!

I know. I've been tempted to set up a tank just to have one lone trigger (blue line). But that will have to wait until I can get these guys stable and well in the 75 that I'm having problems with now. I'm glad everyone is helping me I've learned a lot in the past day.

No, it doesn't matter. I treat them like completely different fish because their nutritional profile is so different. Atlantic vs Pacific vs farmed vs wild... all different.
