Help Once Again

I do not like using formalin inside homes, it off-gasses and is considered a carcinogen.

The daily dose for formalin is 25 ppm. You need to use 37% formaldehyde gas in water/methanol. That is called "100% formalin". Do not use 10% NB formalin, that is a fixative.

To calculate the dose, you use the exact water volume of the tank (minus displacement for any rocks/gravel, but adding in the volume of any sump) and multiply that by 25 and then divide that by 264. So - if you had a tank that holds exactly 100 gallons, the math work out like this: 100 * 25 / 264 = 9.5 ml of formalin.

That said, I can almost ALWAYS find an alternative to using formalin.

Going back to my post on last Tuesday - can you please post a clear video of the fish and the tank under white lights? I need to first figure out what the disease issue is here.

Sorry to hear. I can’t really tell anything from a dead fish without a microscope. In the one image I can see a glimpse of a gill and it is red. That rules out anemia and some gill diseases.

What can I use has far as meds to treat the tank with the remaining fish. I know it's tough enough to determine what's wrong with the fish if seen in person not ket alone a picture and on top of it a dead one. But I feel its better to treat the tank now then wait for more to die, Again all the rest look fine and all eat ever day. some been in the tank for about a year or little better, but every once in a while theirs a death in there and I lost my dog face puffer I had for 4 years about 3 weeks ago (white patch on face it had like a fungus I guess), so any help is greatly appreciated and I know there always a chance of it not working. Thanks
Carl

I found the pic of my dog face that passed away about 3 weeks ago maybe this will shed some light on the problem.

Yes, I remember seeing a pic of this fish before. I think I would presume that was a bacterial disease of some sort. This clownfish more likely had a protozoan skin infection.
Pictures don’t always tell us enough. I’m hampered by not being able to look at a skin scrape of people’s fish under a microscope - that often tells me right away what the trouble is.

Agree bacterial and did you ever get quarantine tank established?

have to many fish for a qt tank, need to med my second aquarium which is 150 gallons please advise on meds dosage and extent. thanks Carl
For ruby in display tank, dose at 1oz per 6 gallons and remove carbon. While not needed- I recommend added aeration with air stone

Is this a one time shot and should I turn off UV and skimmer if so how many days Thanks really for the knowledge I really appreciate it
Carl
I run skimmer and UV part time (at night)

Thank you for the great info, I am always learning.
Turns into an addiction. I read threads about things I'll never own and really have no interest in handling. Just for the information. So many people here sharing wisdom. Pretty cool.
Lurking here upped my game big time.

It funny that we crave that knowledge just in case we may need it later or may change our minds and off to the rabbit hole I go.
