Help with Lighting! Newbie

I would be fine with an effective Par38 light as long as I could find a good, inexpensive, minimal gooseneck mount or lamp stand to put it on!
I'm sure you can find one. Maybe you could possible get a dimmer switch to put on them:)

The halo does seem nice but I don't know much about them. I do know a good bit about the lights you are looking at for a quarter of the price and the corals do grow well underneath them. I'm glad @Brian Kim, brought them up because they didn't even cross my mind.

the Par38? can you find a good bulb to buy on amazon? There are so many to choose from and I have no idea what I need exactly. I want to make sure the light isn't giant either. Is the dimmer switch part of the light socket or just a separate attachment?

I like this light and the way it looks, would this work? Or is there a better option?

Yes, the par38. They are a little smaller than a flood light. About 5 inches round. Yes the switch would be an attachment. Unless of course you found a socket with one built in.

55 watt is the brights on cars

Is that for the par38 or the kessil? I honestly am looking at the Fluval Sea Halo the most right now because it seems to be mid-line in terms of price and ability. Obviously I would love a remote or wifi control but I also don't want to dish out over 100 or 120
The halo he sells them and has a display running one on a 5 or so gallons nano.

Can we see your tank? Would like to
will as soon as it's up and running! college student back at home for Christmas break and setting up tank back at school! Should be back around January 4th-6th! Having my live rock, live sand, and clean up crew flown in a day after I arrive! Already have premixed saltwater for my first go, but also reef crystals and RO water for any water changes in the future. I have another thread following the set up of the tank. Here it is, if you would like to follow my awesome little tank!

Haha alright ill follow! I use reef crystals and ro water as well. When reef crystals says it will grow coralline it means it lol, I'm being overrun by it. Although I like coralline alot! This is my 3 gallon

Hmm, hard to say. It doesn't give too much information. For soft corals it will be fine,

My par 38 grew everything extremely well. I even had some easier sps, montis under it.

Pay attention the lense optics when you buy a par 38 bulb. The higher the optic, say around 120 degrees, the better and more even the spread of light. 120 degree optics will also blend the colors of a full spec bulb better. Optics around 60 always have a disco effect on a smaller tank.

Par38 bulbs have some weight to them, so you'll need a sturdy gooseneck. I got mine from coral consumption. It was 50 bucks, the full spec bulb was 40 if I remember right. So its in your budget.

Also look at the IM lights and wave point. I've seen some good displays at LFS using those for softies and some lps.

awesome, thank you!
Looks like it's not real adjustable but it's got a nice 14k look bluish but plenty of daylight look. Says 24k I think on box but it looks 14k according to wb on camera. Should work for your setup. Par 38 can be really nice also so it's decision you'll be having to make lol.
