My Tank Thread
Looks like diatom, just new tank uglies.

No. Reread that please.
Algae likes the same light corals do but with the addition of Y O.
This light is engineered to to reduce the transmission of those additional colors.
I don’t belive I mentioned time.
SBreeflight has a sched posted on thier site , similar to what redfish blue posted.
Set the intensity at the peak to about 20,000 lux.
Most who run a short total photoperiod will have a longer peak and often a peak higher intensity, to run longer , a shorter peak and peak intensity.
Eh, let’s bloom them diatoms.Yes you may need to wait to move to hang them higher for better coverage/spread.
Yes you would need to bump the intensity after raising them.
I’d pick a number and scrams stay there honestly.
To getpar on most led from lux.
Devide lux by 60 and it equals par
So , 18,000 lux /60 is 300 par, Ish.
The goal is about 100 par on the sand , so in a small tank , that 16,000-20,000 I mentioned earlier is probably a good starting point.
And , IMO , a bit more is better than a bit less.
If you’re curious, you can test the level on the sand dry , by simply taking the light off the tank and holding it the same distance from the light to the sand.
You’d be looking for about 6,000 lux.

If you become a supporting member you can rent apogee par meter

I did this with a lux meter.OK, sweet. I'm not too worried about it right now. I think @saltyfilmfolks has given me a way to at least be in the ballpark and I think as I add more coral I will continue to experiment. May look more into renting the par meter as I get more frags if I can't dial it in with this method.
I became an R2R supporter anyway because I have gotten way more than $25 a year worth of value from R2R already and it's only been a couple of months.
Snails! cool. Flow looks good, you could go higher if you want no worries there. Only time you have too much flow is when water is splashing out of the tank or your softies and lps corals close up. Fish love flow, most will swim towards the surge of flow, they dig it.
I believe a bunch of people use reef crest mode but go ahead and play around with your new toy
Honestly thinking about it I may just get a RADION XR30W G4 PRO or maybe the AI Hydra 52. That way I can be within the recommended manufactures spread. The XR15W G4 Pro and the AI Hydra 32 are both only recommended for 18 x 18 and maximum spread of 24 x 24 according to BRS.
I'll have to think about it more but the AI would be easier to setup and the Radion would likely be more reliable. I've read a lot about the AI lights failing and AI denying warranty claims saying that the lights had excess water damage or something along those lines.
This way I can grow anything I wanted, even though I'd want to start with the easiest corals.
If you make sure not to use the gasket they stay fine. Just added another yesterday. And the first has a 3d plastic guard for the nems as well.
Stay active on sales forums here and on local reef sites for used Radions, I caught mines dirt cheap on Craigslist guy needed his tank out, a tank your size you can def get away with an xr15 also AI primes will do great in a tank that size
So I just got my first MP10WDQ and since we have the same tank, I'm wondering what your settings are?
Also when you said not to use the gasket you are talking about the rubber spacer right?

Just making sure.
