I have had my snowflakes for a little over a year now and it is just brutal when i try and put my hands in the tank for anything at all. I'm talking about, blood drawing, calculated attacks towards only the softest and most painful parts of my hands. They even splash me when i get near the surface of the water with my hands. I cannot shoo them away or do anything to stop them from attacking.

Does anyone else have to endure this?

Are they breeding . Sometimes breeding clowns will get territorial like that . Maybe too they are protecting their host .

I was having this discussion at my LFS today. I was explaining how my 2" Cinnamon clown scares me when I clean the glass. Then I look over at their display tank, and they have a Cinnamon clown the size of my hand!!!! I'm terrified!!!

I have two clowns that are the same way. They come after you when you put your hand in the tank. Had to move them to a different tank tonight. I just couldn't take it anymore.

I have a lil' wyoming white clownfish which is about 1.25 inches and he as mean as can be and has been that way since I brought him home, he looked so sweet and innocent at the store!:mad::mad: Bites me constantly and when I open the lid he will actually bob his head out of the water trying to get me! I have explained to him that when I get the new tank he will be banished to the sump if he keeps this up ... LOL LOL LOL!!!

One would wonder how this cute face can be so dang mean!!!:mad:

HAHA he/she just looks mean! LOL!

I added a poll!

My Picassos are as peaceful as can be towards me. I can mess around with their eggs and they don't mind!

when i put my hand in the tank, i can basically scoop them (2x midnight ocelaris) out of the tank. I put my hand under them, then i just raise it, they stay in the cup formed by my hand. they are still ~1''-1.25'' ... don't worry i don't do that, but i could
i'm not sure if they are peacefull or just affraid or too dumb to swim away.

I have a Percula now that's absolutely docile but I've had some little demons before. Clarkii, and Saddleback to be exact. The good thing is it doesn't hurt when they bite you, it will scare you if you're not paying attention though. I've jerked my arm out of the tank flinging saltwater everywhere on more than one occasion.

I have a 3 inch long maroon clown that seems to be ok with me putting my hands near him or his anemone, but he's got a vendetta against any plants I have in the tank. He keeps grabbing and moving them around the tank, pulling them out of the sand. It's driving me nuts.

Do clownfish just not like plants, or is this a peculiarity of this one?

I have the same problem with my female Darwin clown. The male doesn't bother me at all.

i had a big tomato clown used to draw blood when i cleaned the tank. when it died i had a look in its mouth and it had teeth like a piranha.
I got some elbow length rubber gloves in the end which stopped it biting but it would still splash me. Ha and the little kiddys think Nemo is so nice

What i have found is if they are paired up and have spawned they are the devil. If you keep one and not a pair its fine.

That is an awesome video, hehehe!!! Love the puffer, what kind is it?

I have a Clarkii, ironically his name is Bozo, he's a brute, bites the hand that feeds him, and beats the heck out of the BTA's when he feeds them. But he keeps thing interesting in the tank.
