How much do you spend in electricity?

Your Electric Company must love you. Water isn't too bad, I was expecting it to be higher

Yes im sure.they do. Worst part is that most of the cost comes from "distribution fees". My actual gas and electrics on like 150 a month

I can't imagine living on 580kwh a month. Do people in your neighborhood even have fridges or use ovens? Charge their phones at work and never use a computer at home?
December to Jan was a very high month for me, but not insane. If I was on your chart I'd be off it at 2329.74 kWh.

I use the same almoat per month. My oven is gas.

Well said- I am about 18 months on my new well pump that was $2500 and now city water is at either end of my street- can’t stop progress and zoning doesn’t allow both- I plan to disconnect well and for inspection and reconnect for tank and pool/ spa use only-
I had a pump replaced, two leaks in the line patched, and the line to the house replaced. So my payoff is in 4.8 years haha.

But I have "free water"

Ouch.. I need to look into more energy efficient equipment....
This is my current bill..
KWH Used 2920
Total Current Charges 486.37

I have mine set up in the basement, and the basement heat is off. I still use the glass canopy, and it saves the heat, and crack open the lids during the summer.
I have seen no change in my bill
ATI 8 bulb
RO Skimmer
Return pump
300 watt heater, very rarely do I see it on
Temp ranges from 76-81

I too have a glass canopy and it does trap some heat in the winter months. But my tank is also situated next to a sliding glass door, and I'm sure some heat escapes outside, and the door adds some heat to the tank in the summer.

I have a 200g display, 40g sump. And then another 40g system in my office. It's probably running around $40-50 a month. Even in the winter, out total bill is in the low $300's, which is just about average in our area for this time of year. Low 200's in the summer.

I am looking into a mag12 to run on my small system. I want to run the reactor and everything I can off the return pump. That includes all flow coming from several returns. The less plugs I can have connected, the better.

I am not actually sure what my actual cost is, but I get great letters every month saying I am way above neighbors and extremely above an efficient house. :)

I run MH and t5s over a 210g. I also have a protein skimmer, calcium reactor, chiller (this one will kill you), carbon reactor, and a fridge that runs food to the system periodically through day. I have other tanks too, but this is the biggie.

Our gas/electric bill for the home is substantial, up to $400/month for two-story 4000 sq ft, but very little of that is from the aquarium. We like it warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and 1000W orchid grow lights add quite a bit too.

$25/mo (at .11/kwh) to run a Reefer 450, with VarioS 6, Gyre and 3 Vortechs, 3 Hydra26HDs and 4 48" T5HOs, skimmer, ozonizer, reactor, 2+1 heaters, Apex + multiple modules, ATO pump and solenoid, two dosers, small fuge light.

Fortunately I haven't had to use a chiller yet; an evaporative cooling fan does the job adequately for me (so far) at very little energy cost. It's occurred to me that if we ever decrease our summertime AC usage to reduce our energy bill, and let our inside house temperature creep up a bit, we might quickly lose those savings if I had to then hook up a chiller to the now too-warm tank.

Apex will give average Amperage mine says 6.1 amps so it looks like 6.1*120*24*30/1000 = 527KW. So cost is 527*.107 = $56.4. I have a 180 gallon with 2 33L and a 40gal sump

My electric bill before aquariums $80 month average. With 5-6 fw/sw tanks was about $220 average. Now with only one properly plugged in reef tank the average electric bill is $120 mo. I feel fortunate and blessed.

I really want to put an Apex Neptune on mine to monitor but am am afraid of what the 750 costs to run. I also have a 4000 gallon Koi pond with waterfall (1 Hp pump) that is running 24/7 for 8 months of the year that is a big drain on my bill. In the Summer with my 3 AC units running my bill is not friendly at about 4000 KWH.

Flipping heck I thought my electric was expensive there's only the 2 of us at home wife works 2.5 days a week and I'm retired and home 24/7 I always have the TV on and run the one reef tank with sump and I like a lot of water movement in it and we pay an average of £100 per calendar month for all our electric including the standing charge and VAT of 5% and we also cook via electric no gas were we live but heating is by oil.

Oh yes, definitely; running metal halides is like keeping a hair dryer going all day long. ;Meh

Have my tank at the Office, so I guess its 0 for me. I don't think I'll be calculating this in the near future either since they may use it to justify reducing any future raises that i may earn.
