I have a similar but less extreme problem..My tank is in the basement. and the space is about 1000 sq ft. Before the tank, I did not have to heat the basement. Now, I heated with 30,000BTU heat pump and it adds about 300$ to the bill. My total December electricity bill was ludicrous!
In a way, I'm having second thought on finishing the basement and put the tank down there. But it is what it is now.
My tank is also in the basement and it is significantly cooler down there than the rest of the house. My 500w of heaters run a lot. Probably 80% of the time which is extremely pricy.
I have opened vents to the basement to increase temp. Hasn't done much. Logging the results in Apex for now
