I'm probably there for at least an hour because I have to look at all the new additions, spend time picking stuff out, and talking to the store owner about upcoming tank plans

We actually have some really nice local fish stores in the san francisco bay area of California.

I usually spent 30 mins to 1 hour at each store looking at everything, talking to the owner/other hobbyists.

I haven't gone to the lfs in two weeks and I'm starting to Freak out

Glad to see I'm not the only person who spends to much time there

Friday is fish day. I spend at least an hour there, but have been known to spend 2 or 3 if i lose track of time. :) Glad it's not just me.

I think it depends on the store. Since I have worked in a LFS before, I am looking at the holding tank setups. The health of the fish an the knowledge of the staff is also important. I play dumb at times to see if the staff is being honest or if they are full of BS. My first saltwater tank was a disaster because the store my Dad thought was good only cared about money and nothing else so they said what you wanted to hear to make a sale. When I worked in the LFS I vowed to never treat a customer the same way and I never did. In fact I quit my first job at a pet store because the owner did not like me telling the truth to customers. If I am going to make a purchase of live animals then I might be there an hour or two. I like to observe the animals I am about to purchase and build a relationship with the store.

I go every Friday and am there no less then 2 hours some times I've stayed there up to 4 depending if I have anything going on that day. I always lose track of time b.s.ing with the owner and workers.

I once spent like 6 hours BS'ing with two LFS owners, went out to dinner with them, came back to the store and talked for another 2-3 hours. Didn't get home until like 4AM (LFS was 1.5 hrs away.) :p

My poor wife enjoyed the company, but was like we're never doing that again.

I usually go in for a specific thing, then my wife asks if I want a coral... then she picks out three. I would like to spend hours looking at stuff and socializing with like minded people but the kids (all five) are with us and that makes it a bit more difficult. I wish they had shopping carts, they are losing mad money by not having a couple shopping carts.

20-30 minutes if there isn't much to look at minimum. I have to say an hour is easy to do. Spending to much money in the past 4 months. It could of been worse if I was wealthy. I have 3-4 LFS's that I like too. Danger Will Robinson Danger!!! Too many goodies not enough money. What is great is I get along very well with all the Owners as well. Some I have known for over 15 years. I have seen those guys move what seems like 3 times over the years.

My wife dreads every time I say "I'll be back"
Shoot, I didn't realize how much I say that until now..
