How much time do you spend at the lfs

Wish I had spent less time in one today. Drove a friend about 1 1/2+ hours away to run some errands and figured while we were over there I'd check out a lfs I saw online that had decent reviews. There were two purple tip frogspawn I was looking at and while I was standing there another customer asked the guy working how much the smaller one was. He said $60. So I asked how much the bigger one was and he said $80. I continued to look around and think about it while he helped other customers and finally decided to get the bigger one. I told the guy working and he said "oh that's going to be pricey". I walked over and pointed to it and said this one. And he was like "yeah that's going to be pretty pricey." So I said "you said $80 right?" And he said "oh no, that one's $80" pointing to the smaller one. Then he said the bigger one would be closer to $300. When I pointed out that he had just said that they were $60 and $80 he said "well that was before I counted the heads." Needless to say I walked out empty handed and won't be going back. I'll stick with the lfs I've been using who so far has always dealt fairly with me.

Well now a days not as much as I would like too. After my mentor and friend who ran a store for many many years passed away.[emoji17] he was a great man with tons of knowledge and truly if it wasn't for him I would have gave up before I even started! He always was there and encouraged me to hang in there and use something it has taken many years to sharpen, that's PATIENCE!

I could remember spending hours upon hours in his store, sometimes the whole day when I had a day off. I would love to have that time back, but I guess nothing is forever! Whenever, I get stumped or frustrated with my tanks I ask myself what he would do. I had a zebra moray once that got out of the tank once, must have been out of water for at least an hour before I came home and found him. It was a miracle, but he somehow was able to nurse him back to health and he survived. He would always chuckle at my panic mode and say "kid, relax this isn't rocket science" RIP Bob, I hope your tank in the sky is as beautiful as the ones you you kept in the store!

Sorry, for the somber moment. I felt it necessary to show my gratitude to Bob and all the wonderful people like him in this hobby. This is a great site and it's my pleasure to be a member!
