How tall are everybody's stands?

nice tank.. who makes it?

This tank is AGA (All Glass Aquarium). AGA after 40 years was purchased or became Aqueon. The AGA tank has thicker glass than the 180g Aqueon, it's s approximately 10 years old and has never been resealed to date.

I can't recall, but I think mine is 39". I am a FIRM believer in being able to "view" the display without bending over. Let's face it, it is a PITA to keep bending down to view our displays. And of equal importance, when we have family and friends over they want to be able to view at normal viewing height. Our guests don't give a hoot about maintenance and/or needing a step ladder to do maintenance IMHO.

I do not mind one bit needing a step ladder and mighty glad I made the decision some 10+ years ago to build a "right height" stand for my 180-gl display.

My tank started the same way as yours. I use cherry to finish the stand.

Did you use finishing nails to attach the cherry or did you use wood glue? Looks very nice.

30.50"on mine. The surrounding area is tight, and low ceilings. A taller stand would look awkward in the space.

I've found this to be the ideal height for me and it puts the top 1/3 of the tank right at eye level, which is very comfortable for viewing.

Also, with a 24" canopy it makes for a very nice addition to a large room.

Yes the frames on the tank are black and why we wanted it to look in set so we could hide them. Here's a picture of the full set up with canopy.

Thank you [emoji2] it's a combination of t5/leds. 2 Aqua illumination Sol Blues (none dead center- located at 2' & 4') down the middle and flanked by 3- 80w t5s on each side. Blue+, coral+ & purple+.

I built mine at 44 inches so I had ample room to work underneath, the tank works out just right for me as I am 5' 11" tall.

I ended up going with 40". Still in the garage running a leak test on my plumbing but hopefully will be coming in the house shortly.

Mine is too tall. I purchased my system used when I upgraded from a 90 to 120, so it came with the stand. The stand is around 48.5" tall which when I first got it I thought was an awesome height because at my height im basically looking straight into my tank rather than needing to sit or having to look down at the tank. Well that got old really quick. I have tons of wasted space in my stand, and I need to get up on a step ladder every time I want to do anything in my tank. If I could do it all over again, would definitely go with a shorter stand.

I like the idea of going to your armpit, but I would do it to the armpit on my tippy toes to get a few extra inches of height but that way you still dont need to use a stool for the most part.

we build all our stands at 42" tall...great for viewing the DT..

I think stand height is going to be determined by the height of the tank and the primary viewing angle. My tank is fairly tall at 32". Using Greybeard's method would result in a 18" tall stand.
The original stand was 26" but very difficult to maintain equipment under the tank in that short space. I could, if required, reach into the tank at that height.
My new stand is 30" tall and I'll need small ladder now.

Glad to see this.. With all those 40" tall stands I was thinking I may have under-planned. I've got a 30" stand, a 24x24x72 180g and will build a 18" peninsula cabinet and canopy to go with it. Since this is a room divider between Living and Dining rooms, I think 6' x 6' of furniture should be good. 18" canopy is a little tall, but wanted room to hang led lights at any height they may need.

My first build was 42" tall. Like others have said, we preferred to look into the tank, not down into it. Had PLENTY of room in sump area, and even in the canopy. My next tank (coming soon, Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 650) has a 3 meter stand that I'm going to put on a 6" base for better viewing.

its easy to figure how high ,,consider the bottom of the stand where sumps sit on,,add the sump height,,measure a five gallon bucket diameter as if you were going to dump a bucket of water in the sump and add an additional 4-6 inches,,if it is still to low for your likings then adjust height higher to your likings,,,always remember that you skimmer has to be able to be taken out and put back in the sump..

I built my stand 44" tall for my 150g tank that is 24" tall because I prefer to not have to look down to view my tank. Im happy with this height as the tank is easy to view whether standing in front of or sitting on the adjacent couch and the glass is still easy to scrape.
