Well it’s that dang time of year again where us Floridians have to dodge hurricanes thrown at us.

I recently bought this plus 15 some odd batteries. I have a 40g mixed reef with no SPS and 6 fish. What else do I need?

Maybe the wall plug that turns on when it senses no power? (Forgot the name)

I have a JBJ 1/10 chiller and I am still trying to figure out which Gas Generator will run it? I do have a Honda 1000i and everytime it did the start cycle and the generator shut off.. so not sure how much of a bigger generator I need.

No one can tell me how many AMPS or WATTS the start cycle uses on the JBJ DB-075

I can put batteries in the bubbler say it runs 12 hours

Tank is next to a window so light isn’t any issue

After Irma, I ran a battery operated air pump for 3 days. I manually stirred the water every 3 hours. I kept it dark in the room with the tank so the temp wouldn't get to high. Everything survived just fine. Within two days of getting power back, the tank looked like nothing had happened.

With Irma , it was not that hot, but this month is so hot the tank tempature will get up to 80 degree+++ easy without AC

Most have a generator in their garage. I.e. your car. You can get a converter to hook up to your car (usually the lighter) and it can create enough electricity to at least keep a pump and possibly skimmer going.

Freeze several bottles of water in case the temps get too high.

It got up to 90 where I live, no power, no A/C. Tank got to 83 degrees, no problems. I was starting to look for ice to keep the temp from getting any higher.

You would probably need a 3000 watt or above to start a chiller or a small a/c

Ugh. I’m dreading this storm, too. Hopefully we will all make it through okay! I’m already worried about it having a negative impact on MACNA. :(

I decided to stay put in Miami because of it, dont want to be in the middle of it during the weekend.

The last one had people driving up the state and they all got caught somewhere in betwwen.

I hope everyone has time to prepare and makes it save.

Can’t buy a generator live in a condo.

Don’t want a car battery because god FORBID it explodes or something happens the HOA will kill me

Edit: work in hospital so the tank will be alone for 2 days if I’m forced to work

Just dont leave the car running in your garage. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. Same thing with generators. Do not run them in your garage.
