I’m getting 26 fish tomorrow- qt help???

11 fish died in transport or they didn't ship them all? If 11 died, that's awful.

11 died but ironically about 8 of those were chromis. I ordered a big school of them and apparently they aren’t as hardy as I thought. But, many many fish die coming from overseas.

Hello all. So I started therapeutic copper two days ago. i have been slowly raising it by dosing a few drops morning and night. Some of my wrasses aren’t doing well with it I don’t think. One has stopped eating, and two others are laying on the bottom of the tank now. Should I continue with copper and just assume these fish may have a disease or should I do a water change and stop copper all together?

What copper are you using and what are you using to measure?

I would remove the copper, wrasses, especially fairy wrasses do poorly with copper treatments

Many wrasses respond worse to ionic copper like cupramine than to chelated copper like copper power. That may be your issue. Check out this chart for more info

If there is a way you can treat the fish sensitive to cupramine with a chelated copper like Copper Power i would recommend it

Another possibility is that the wrasses are your most sensitive fish to decreased oxygen levels in the water from copper and increasing surface agitation will alleviate their distress

Cuppramine and the test for it

+1 on copper power. I had a harder time using cupramine and switched to copper power. It seams to be much gentler on fish and I haven’t seen issues with apatite suppression since I switched.

I also highly recommend the Hanna copper checker for precise testing. It is very hard to distinguish colors on the other test kits and the Hanna checker produces a digital read out that is unmistakeable.

Since I was recommended this combo of med and testing my life and survival rate has improved.

Glad to hear she is eating. They are slow eaters. And other fish can easily finish off the food before they get much. There are lots of ideas out there for making sure they get their share of the food. Beautiful.
