I am sorry for your loss. I still miss the color variants in the corals I lost. I learned that, some salts tell you to mix for no more then a hour. Others say at least 24 hours. Check out the instructions on yours, to know for sure.

did you double check your salinity to make sure its where it supposed to be?

This sounds very strange. I don’t know of any salts that can’t be mixed for more than an hour unless they have some bioactive material incorporated into the mix which needs to be used within the timeframe the manufacture defines. But if the salinity is where you want it then its pretty much good to go.

Just randomly thinking....I’ve lost some sps or even gotten a chrytophyte outbreak and narrowed it down to VOCs. Once the sources of VOCs were removed the issues went away. This included to making house keeper not to use any mist spraying equipment as well as switching to aquarium safe cleaners in the room the tanks are in. Also, removing scented candles, and making sure that the stove vents are on when we cook. More oxygen is also a thing too.

Still seems to be a mystery....I’d love to hear updates on this.

I have a 32G biocube that has been running since October. I have been happy with the corals and everything has looked amazing. I did a water change today with the same system I have been using and the corals instantly all closed up. I checked my salinity in the brute and it was spot on. It’s a closed system with pumps in the brute cans and pex-a running the water all the way there. The only thing that was abnormal was the water was lower then normal in the overflow and when I turned the pump on it created a huge amount of air bubbles in the tank. Can this make them close up? Nothing else has changed.

Yes air bubbles can irritate corals but they recover within a couple hours after. ime
