I ORDERED WITHOUT A PERMIT

I'm not 100% on how they handle animals but I have plenty of experience with international shipping/US customs.

Most likely it will just get seized by customs and disposed of. You'll get a letter stating that it's been seized and you can come claim it if you have the proper paperwork. Obviously, the fish will be dead by then.

I ordered some fish from China without a permit. I don’t know what is going to happen. Does anyone have experience with this? Is the fish going to get seized and killed? Am I going to get in trouble?
I think it depends on if they are CITES listed or not. The shipper should have the necessary export documents with your shipment. Or like many purchases from China they just took your money and nothing will get shipped. Check out the complaints about Alibaba online to see what I mean.

Is there any way to quickly get a permit? What do you do when you ship international?

I'm just curious why you would order fish from China? I doubt they would even survive the trip. Also being live stock I would assume they would have to be received at customs by an importer :thinking-face:
I just kind of wanted to test it. The website I bought through is a 3rd party that just helps ship and everything and they didn’t have it marked as something that would get stopped. They typically will mark things saying that they are either not going to be allowed or will get seized etc.

So your sayin there is a chance that they actually have the correct documents to ship them?

I do hope you get your fish.

Are they actually shipping from China? They usually go through a trans shipper. They have all the paperwork. Sometimes you have to pay the trans shipper a handling fee if it wasn't built into the original purchase.

Wasn't this the same question you asked in November? Ordering from China or a wholesaler. You got some answers then but I guess as long as the investment is minimal (and I'm ignoring fish dying for now) then you'll get real life answers now vs theoreticals. Is this still for a 6G? Seems like a lot of effort and risk to go through. Now if it was a 600G I can see the logic.

I can't find it, do you have a link?

Anything I order from China takes about 1 month to get here thru customs. Do you really think any fish will live that long in a bag ?
