I was just flashed for the first time

Everything was going pretty good in my tank until I overdosed nitrates. Right now I'm dealing with an algae bloom, but hopefully I can keep it under control and get things leveled out. I'm glad things are going well in your tank since the crash and I hope that never happens again!!!

Potassium Nitrate per Twilliards thread! Only I missed the thing about taking it slow and dumped in to much. It's leveling out now!

I have personally never witnessed any of my flasher wrasses flash. I've owned some for probably a total of 5 years, although currently i do not.

You gotta take it easy with nitrate dosing. I recommend against it until it's a last resort.

So I'm guessing this isn't something that will happen regularly?

On no you didnt overdose did you!
Shame shame Rene'!

Why do you not recommend it?
2ppm is my tanks happy spot.
If having nitrate can be achieved by a more natal l natural way I would go that route. Such as reducing skimming or adding another fish or 3. If I can avoid adding any chemical to my tank I will.

It depends on the fish and the situation. The fact that it flashed once is a good sign.

With other wrasse allegedly it increases your chances. I've just not been so lucky my friend!

What are his tankmates?

Just a little bit ago he was chasing my royal flasher and the royal gave a little flash. It was just a split second though.

Interesting fish you have!

That's why I put a bunch of flashers in there. So far a clown pair, firefish, blue flasher, filamented flasher, royal flasher and a flame wrasse. He's got me a bit concerned at the moment because he's scratching on the rocks now. That's never a good sign....

Jealous.
I owned one for 5 years, never saw it flash once. My friend said he saw it do it once when i was in the other room. Still not sure if he was lying, or if i was just so jealous and in denial.
