I think that people in North America do not - of obvious reasons - understand how fast things develop here in Europe. 2022 - 79.3 % of all new passenger cars that was sold in Norway was EV cars. And we European do not understand how fast things develop in China and India. In march this year - Renault introduce the European version of their Chines build
Kwid K-ZE - in Europe Dacia Spring. Cost around €18000 in France
Yes agree. Personally I don't even understand how fast it moves where I am (also scandinavia). I mean it's just 2 weeks ago I reliased they list Kwh prices next to gas and diesel at the stations. Of course they would start doing that after they got chargers at those places, but it's still a bit surreal honestly (perhaps because I was an early adopter of EVs)

Harder to picture than Formula E?
Personally excited to see Porshe back in the game there
I watched a formula e race(on tv). It was weird, they raced inside a building, the cars sound like drones, and they have to hit certain spots on the track(outside the apex of corners) for kilowatts. Still racing but wierd

Agree it does sound like a swarm of...well spaceships

2 seasons ago they had to switch batteries during the race. This season I think the tech is good enough they dont have to (but not fully sure as I don't follow it that closely). Will see how it evolves. With Porshe and Mercedes there it's a matter of time before Ferrari joins and they race the normal tracks. Mercedes may have pulled out again, not fully sure.

And yes the sounds...but same in Formula1 to some extent. Older cars sounded better IMHO

Knit to the reefing hobby - there was guy here that manage his reef aquarium to work during a hurricane power cut with help of his EV battery.....

Sincerely Lasse
And that's great, and I used regular car batteries to power mine, a bit of ingenuity goes a long way.. but what is he to do when 5 days later his car is dead and he needs to go find food, or evacuate?

So what do you propose to control the climate of this planet?
I could say 'nothing'. Because I don't believe it can be 'controlled'. I know - lots of people WANT it to be controlled - but IMHO - it's not controllable. Why? People in China, India, the middle of Africa will want (if not now - in the future) - the benefits of regular heat, cool, water, electricity. This is not a slam against them - it's just human nature - and the humans that do not live in air conditioning - will likely want it in the future. This requires more and more and more expense to be paid for energy. And the current energy harvesting methods - including fossil fuels, wind, solar, etc combined will not meet the need. Though I don't agree with the people suggesting that its clear that mining for xxx minerals for solar necessarily damages the environment - I have my doubts that its completely safe - and that these things will not be adequate to provide the same lifestyle to everyone on the planet - and - everyone on the planet wants the same lifestyle.

Who has the authority or permission to even touch a Atlantic hard coral? and if so, how the heck do you even obtain permission?
…on a related note, I’ve pm’d a few vendors & individuals around here in this vein and got nothing but crickets…
@vetteguy53081 ANY chance the avg hobbyist can help save these corals?
maybe a collective crowd sourced captive bread initiative?
If you're talking about stag horn/elkhorn coral - no there is nothing you can do - however - others are (I believe) - harvesting and attempting regrowth.

There is very clear isotopic evidence that :

The additional carbon is biogenic (non-mantle).
The carbon being added is from coal, oil and natural gas.

Here is a good, basic explanation (From Climate.gov) :

"Carbon-14 (or 14C) is also known as radiocarbon, because it is the only carbon isotope that is radioactive. It is perhaps most famous for its use in radiocarbon dating of archeological artifacts ranging from mummies to cave drawings, and it plays a crucial role in studying fossil fuel carbon dioxide emissions as well.

Fossil fuels are, well, fossils, and are millions of years old. Because of this, all of the radiocarbon initially present has decayed away, leaving no 14C in this ancient organic matter. All other atmospheric carbon dioxide comes from young sources–namely land-use changes (for example, cutting down a forest in order to create a farm) and exchange with the ocean and terrestrial biosphere. This makes 14C an ideal tracer of carbon dioxide coming from the combustion of fossil fuels. Scientists can use 14C measurements to determine how much 14CO2 has been diluted with 14C-free CO2 in air samples, and from this can calculate what proportion of the carbon dioxide in the sample comes from fossil fuels."
Again - I agree with others - ok - great so - it's biogenic. Let's ask the question how much of that carbon comes from 'what'. However, There are differing opinions - according to multiple sources - methane from cows, etc is also a huge producer. And - I would suggest - that perhaps in 10 years we will see that the calculation/estimations made by the site were 'off'. just like a decade ago - various politicians said that it would be a climate catastrophe by now. This is not climate change denial - there is clear evidence that the climate is changing. The question remains - what's the best way to 'fix it' - if its a human issue - or to get used to it if its the natural ebb and flow. Let's just say CO2 is increasing.

What do you mean when you say the same lifestyle?

Big house with a three car garage, boat with an inboard, 3 kids with ocean front property.

I don't really want that....a new boat would be nice though.

He evacuates.

:smiling-face-with-sunglasses: He has an BMW eV and a gasoline planet killer for survival. The rich and diversified always make it out.

Yes , People don’t think about what they’re thinking and what they’re being told while propaganda is pervasive and the truth from governments has nothing to do with honesty, it’s all about control of the outcome.

I get concerned that the robotic revolution is making people who labor obsolete and at the same time the ideas “Too many People” and “population control” are bantered about by nice ordinary people who don’t necessarily trust their government to select who should be declared surplus (to speak kindly) of the obvious endgame of folks trying to survive.

I’m okay with loss of freedom if I get to decide who loses what.

And you all don’t need to worry I like people that keep reefs.

I can see that on your posts :)

It will be a great CO2 sink near the epicenter for all important atmospheric CO2 measurements in the world

Sincerely Lasse
My senior project was about cow poop and eutrophication...

I did mean it to be funny, but it turned out to support a 2nd hypothesis that fertilizer could be the culprit, and not the actual cow poop.

Anyone seen the video of the hundreds of acres of abandoned Chinese EVs?

And the Chinese EV bicycle graveyards?

It has been around before - you know it is a hoax The cars is from a care share company going bankrupt - the same with the bikes. Its from 2019 and 2020

That does not sound debunked... It sounds like it was in China and not in France, but it seems like a bunch of abandoned electric cars?

Nothing to see here. Move along please.
