Hi guys!

Just discovered ich on my royal gramma. I have a 29ga biocube with lots of hiding spots!! I don't even want to think of taking everyone out [emoji30] is there something I can do to help the fish fight the ich off??! I know quarantining the fish and treating with copper is the only cure but does anyone have any other success stories?? Garlic xtreme? Let me know please ! Also does raising the temperature help?

Try putting slice of ginger root inside ur tank and mix some ginger power on their food!!
Works for me!

You can practice "ich management" Garlic isn't something you want to use for an extended period as it can cause liver damage in the fish. What you want to do is feed high quality foods with vitamin supplements like Selcon to boost their immune system. Also, keep the tank clean and stress free. These things will help the fish fight the ick off as best they can. There's a link I'll get for you with an ich management article.

Thanks for the info! Should I start doing a water change like every other day? I regularly do weekly changes as it is. I'll try some of these methods first and worse case I guess I'll have to catch them and remove them [emoji22]

That's not necessary. Just keep your routine and keep things as stress free as possible. A healthy diet and a stress free/clean tank is the best you can do I think.

How does the ginger root work? Just buy a fresh root and throw in display tank? It won't hurt my corals or snails?

Just remember that Ich management is not a cure. Even if you don't see it, it's still there. My first tank was a Ich mangement. Had it for two years. Any time I added a new fish I would see spots show up on blue tang. But everyone seemed happy. I would randomly lose fish here and there. Which was probly because of Ich. Anyway just so you know it's not a cure

I used garlic for 30 days and it never came back. I've added new fish since it still never came back. I don't remember the brand but I soaked the pellets in it.

That's all u did?

I fed once a day in the evening. Soaked for 5 min first. I caught it early. It was on 2 clowns and my six line wrasse. I was fully prepared to go out and buy a 40 gallon breeder to set up as a quarentine but didn't end up needing to.
