Ich

It's just I've never see. A tang covered in ich as bad as he is
Tangs are very hardy fish, but they are also very susceptible to parasites. The open water swimming fish like some tangs tend to have lower natural resistances to parasites like ich. In the open ocean they are moving so much that parasites never reach high concentrations by them. As opposed to something like a clownfish that lives its life in a small area. They have stronger natural immunity because their species is exposed to higher levels of parasites.

Getting the fish into a QT and treating with copper would be your best bet. Since that isn't possible the Metroplex is the best idea I have to offer. You could also try dosing 1m/10g of H2O2 to your tank. I know that level is reef safe but I'm not sure it will help with the infestation.

I was able to catch him. I have him a FW bath. Put him back in the Dt he's been breathing heavily now for 15 minutes. I'm so worried he's going to die now from stress of the dip. I'm freaking out

Just leave him be and hope for the best. Until your meds come in there just isn't much you can do. It stinks, I get it. Right now there just isn't anything you can do to make it better.

That really looks like velvet to me.

X2 that's definitely velvet. You're not dealing with ich at all. The spots are too small and far too numerous. Your fish are desperately losing that battle..

Great. Do you think the FW dip will help till I get the meds tomorrow? Also how long will the heavy breathing last after the FW dip?

a fresh water dip should help buy you time. A fish can breath heavily afterward for an hour or so, but they will breath heavily anyway as they die from suffocation from the velvet.

I fear that it is both. Some of the spots have the oval shape confirming Crypto. I do agree that it looks like Velvet is also a distinct possibility. Poor fish. :(

I really wish suppliers would provide healthy fish so the onus wasn't on the hobbyist to restore them to health.

Possibly both, though treating for velvet will take care of ick as well thankfully.

This medication better work when I get it tomorrow. I'm gonna even call off of work to get this going as fast as possible I just hope I didn't kill my tang by doing this FW bath. I don't like how heavy he's breathing. It's been 30 minutes since the bath

what medication did you order? If the tang dies he was past saving anyway. The FW dip wouldn't have killed him if he were savable.

Focus and metroplex I'm going to soak food. I don't want him to die. I'm hoping I can get this medicine still in him and him survive. I know odds are against me. I'm stuck in a bad situation. My parents won't allow to put another tank in the house so I gotta treat in my DT. How do you get rid of velvet in your DT with fish in it? Is it even possible or am I ******?

If the fish dies from a freshwater bath it was a goner anyway. By the time fish are covered like you showed, it's typically too late. The damage to the gills is irreparable and the fish will suffocate, as mentioned. I feared this days ago. At this stage I think it's too late but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try, miracles do happen. I've saved some fish I thought for sure were dead. I showed @Humblefish a video of an Achilles tang badly afflicted with velvet that laid on the sand for days. It didn't move for two days, but it was breathing. It made what seemed like a full recovery over a week (in copper) or so afterward only to randomly stop eating and die 6 months later. I'm guessing the damage had long lasting affects. But I've had stories like that end well long-term in the past
