I use a Hydor 240 in my 10 or 20 QT. Just about perfect flow without pushing around a weakened or sick fish.
Tip: if you rinse it in hot water after removing from tank, the blade will spin perfectly on next use.

Thank you both for all your Help! Never would have set this up so quickly without you guys getting back to me so fast! :)

Best of luck with your beautiful fish. :)

Petco has something called Melafix. Is it the same thing as Metroplex or entirely different?

Melafix is a herbal remedy that is largely used for goldfish and Koi.

Update: Just got back home with Trifecta. Gonna dose it soon. The QT is all setup with the fish in there now.

Question: Is it okay to put a live rock in the QT? I have a live rock in my refugium area that I can spare to put in the QT if that's okay.

Will be ordering a circulation pump and RRR through Amazon.

Live rock acts like a sponge, absorbing meds, copper, etc. throwing the desired dosage out of wack. That's why we put ceramic type media like BioMax, Seachem Matrix in the HOB. It won't absorb; it just provides a breeding ground for beneficial ammonia, nitrite eating bacteria.

Test for ammonia frequently and be prepared to do water changes as the meds instructions note.

So once you empty the QT, do you have to clean the Seachem Matrix that's in the QT, or can you transfer that back to the sump to keep the bacterias alive?

Best to remove the bio-film. There's evidence to support once used in a QT and exposed to meds, there is some bacterial growth that can become somewhat med resistant. So Seachem says you can clean it and reuse it if you are inclined to do so. Bleach soaking overnight will remove the bio-film. Rinse, rinse, rinse, and then some soak in a product like Prime to neutralize the chlorine, dry thoroughly.

Plus the little bags of biomax are like $3-$8 each. Same with 3 packs of sponges. I just toss them after use. Moving forward though, it's definitely not a bad idea to keep a sponge or two(even a little baggie of biomax) in your sump in case you ever need to spring up a qt again.

Sweet. Will do that :)
Was thinking about buying a 500gram pack of Seachem Matrix and splitting it into two parts and putting them in sump and using them in qt when a need arises.

So we have dosed the first dose of meds today.
He only ate like 4 or 5 pieces of mysis shrimp that I mixed Kanaplex and Metroplex with.

Did you dose the meds into the water or just the food?
