I have a 220 gallon tank with a 200gal sump in my basement. . I cannot call in reef tank because I cannot keep corals alive. I started the tank five years ago. It was packed with LPS in Sps and was thriving. Two years ago the tank started to decline all my corals have died. One year ago I removed all the fish emptied the tank I added new Marco rock and sand recycle the tank with bottled bacteria. All my parameters perfect.I haven't lost a fish in five years but coral will not survive more than a week. I'm thinking taking out all the fish again and adding 2 gallons of bleach to the tank to eradicate any virus or bacteria that might be the problem. Am I nuts?

What lighting do you have? It's possible you may be adding things too quickly. Corals aren't fond of fluctuations. Goes without saying, but you are using ridi water right?

What are your water parameters? Do you house alot of fish. It sounds to me that your corals are dieing because there is something going on with your water.

Ecotec radions 2nd gen
Yes I use rodi
The only thing I haven't tested is clorimine
I've got 3-3" tangs 2 wrasses 2 small clowns
Cal 420 ph 8.3 phos near 0 nitrate near 0

What type of program are you running and on what power level do you have on the radion's? IMO I would think you would want 3/4 lights running at 75 % + power to get a good PAR reading on the bottom of the tank. Also, i know the Mp's have great flow numbers, i personally dont run mine at 100%. I run a 40 and 10 on my 75. U may need some more flow for that monster of a tank.

What are you doing to keep your params stable, specificlly KH and Ca. Also curious whats your footprint how many radions are you using.

I'm leaning more towards lighting but radions have not been around for that long so that cant be still curious on lighting, present and past

I am running the lights at 80%
I two thought it was the lights that's why I replaced my hm
I've only had the lights for two months so ruling out the lights at this point.
What are your thoughts on viruses
Also I've go a lot of Cyano and macro algae dies right away in my fuge

Corals turn white and don't open. Polyps open for one day and never open again

Was the tank new or used when you got it? If it was used, maybe there was something done with it that's leeching out into your water over time - really slowly. My first thought was copper, not sure what else could do that.

What about a magnet that's become exposed over time? I've heard enough storied of that happening with Mag Floats & Vortechs.
