Im nuvo 8

Ty ^-^ ... I probably will once I get all the corals I want in there but if you've seen my pics I've rearranged several times and its not always easy finding everyone's 'happy' place that doesnt take over someone else's lol

Tank Update

So I thought I'd give an update on what's going on with my tank in and out.

System

Nuvo 8
Ai nano light with director
Im spinstream
Im media basket 1st chamber (running a stock sponge first chamber, chaeto second, and stock carbon sponge third)
Im fudge light
Neotherm heater in 2nd chamber
Ehiem pump in 3rd chamber
Air stone in 3rd slot for winter
Tunze nano auto in 3rd chamber
All powered by an apex lite
2.5g ato reservoir
2.5g salt mixing jug with hydro nano powerhead

Test kits

Ph and temp probe in 3rd chamber
Refractometer
Everything I could get in Hanna
Rest salifert

Inhabitants
3 sexy shrimp
1 yellow snapping shrimp
Purple mini maxi
2 super tongan nass snails
3 bumblebees snails
Coraline fine clump
Red grape algae
Fruit loop zoa
Pulsing xenia
2 types of yumas
Ricordea florida
Cherry blasto
Torch
Hammer

Maintenance

So far my routine is to feed my maxi 1 or 2 times a week. I feed pellet food to my tank 2 to 3 times a day mainly to keep my sexies from eating my corals. I check everything and do a one over on the glass daily. I'm trying to get into the habit of mixing 2.5g of salt a week and doing biweekly changes with that. I trim my chaeto and make sure sponges are good at this time too. I check my pumps monthly for clogs. I'm probably missing something lol.

Likes and dislikes

I wish the spectrum on the nano was better but overall love the light. I wish the walls of the basket came up higher but it is nice that I can use the sponges sideways in it and that the dividers are movable. I love my heater it is very stable. I hate using an air stone because of the salt spray. I wish they made a smaller strip fudge light as only 2 leads make it in my chamber but the light is great and my chaeto grows like crazy. Ato is awesome. Apex awesome. Love everything pretty much. As for live stuff. Me and all my shrimp have a love hate relationship lol. Everything coral wise is from unique coral. I love everything about this company and highly recommend them. Same with liveaquria which is where I get my livestock.

Hope you enjoy my updates and pics :D

Just put a royal gramma in ours this weekend. Seems happy enough. They mostly hover in one spot waiting for food to come to them, so swimming space is not much of an issue.

That's what I was thinking however I have seen a massive full grown one and want a lasting home so idk if I want to do that... I've really been thinking about keeping this one just shrimp but I'm still indecisive lol

Ours is quite small now but you are right they can get relatively large. I do not know how uncomfortable it would be at that point, or how long it would take to get there. Again given their propensity to simply hover in place it may be ok, or I can transfer it to my (slightly) larger 18 gal reef. But buying the fish was also counter to my general policy of only sustainable livestock as it was not captive bred. But my partner wanted it lol. Well here's to indiscretion.

Lol I personally do love royal grammas they are very colorful and I had one before with this great piece of rock that had natural tunnels in it that he claimed for his own and it was very fun watching him play in them

Updated Photos

Rearranged a bit lol ^-^ I'm thinking im going to embrace this nano for what it is and get a yasha goby... want a pinkbar, but this can wait for a bigger tank. Don't really like the nano fish options besides the really expensive dartfish that I'm not willing to spend the money on atm lol or the little blennies that I don't think would be full enough and die from starvation.

That's a sweet tank. It looks very well cared for. Ours is still settling in after being set up about a month ago but is generally doing well.

Thank you! I do try my hardest to keep up with a maintenance schedule but you know how that goes lol... love these tanks... once I get a house I want to get a bigger one by them ^-^... I bet yours will look awesome in no time... it's all about those water changes

Be careful with royal gramas, They are hunters and I be a little worried with those sexy shrimp... Otherwise they are great tank mates and pretty much peaceful.. With a proper anemone the sexy shrimp are usually safe though, with out them they are a easy snack for some fish..

Also nice job the tank looks awsume..

Also where did you get the sexy shrimp.. I have two and lost one recently but wanted a larger group but I am having a hard time finding as many as I want.

Liveaquaria... like I said in last post think I'll jus get a yasha as this being a nano I should embrace that ... also been doing symbiotic relationships in this tank and I hope he pairs up with my snapping shrimp ^-^

Here is my lighting schedule I have programmed into the director for my ai nano royal, blue, then white, if anyone is interested :)

There the only place I know of and I think you have to put a notify me when in stock request cuz they come in sporadically and go like hot cakes

Live Stock Update

Great knews! I got a yasha goby and he paired up with my yellow pistol shrimp and best of all he LIVED! I've had him for a couple weeks now and all is fine. Haven't seen him much. He doesn't come out when I feed, but I figure if he's been alive this long he must be sneaking or finding food somehow lol. I didn't want to post too soon incase he died and then I'd have to break the knews about that. I also finally got a picture of him today; not the best due to the fact of how discrete I had to be. He's a cute little bugger. :D

Ps idk why they are upside down.
