IM Nuvo EXT 100 SPS2020 Build

Thanks! Looking forward to getting those IM parts.

Cycling is progressing...slowly. Which is expected with a bare bottom tank. A couple of pieces of real live rock I had laying around are in the refugium along with 1 liter of Seachem Matrix in a high flow area of the sump where water has to pass over\through the media. Right now, it is just a cloudy tank with no lights, so no real reason to post pictures.
I didn't realize you were going bare bottom. I have mine currently filled with fresh water to test my plumbing, and I noticed 2 giant air pockets in the foam they glued to the bottom of my tank. I was thinking it would look terrible going bare bottom with them. plus there are numerous small bubbles. Did you have any issues with that?

No big air pockets, lots of small ones, but I wouldn't sweat it. Once you have your aquascape in there and coralline algae starts taking over the bottom, you won't notice air pockets. At least that's what I am noticing with just my 'scape in place.

Now comes the IM Snafu...

The middle door is the exact same size as the other two, but the spacing does not allow for the width of the door with the front support in place!!! What the heck was IM thinking? I'm pretty sure this is not user error.

that’s a bummer. Fortunately for me, I am terrible at reading directions. This is how I installed mine, just made more sense to me. No issues.

awesome build! How are you going to regulate flow through the sterilizer with it plumbed this way? I get how you can control flow running into it, but won’t the flow passing through the gate valve on top just run back down to the other side of the sterilizer? In other words, would the water just kind of get trapped in there?

Thanks for the compliment; it is coming along and I will soon post more pictures.

The ball valve on the manifold (on top and in the middle of the UV) is closed and the two ball valves on the inlet and outlet of the UV are open while the lamp is on. So the flow can only go into the UV on the right side (looking at the attached picture) and exit on the left side, back into the manifold and then up through a gate valve for flow control.

Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. Plumbing looks clean! Smart to run UV inline like that.

Even if he wanted to have both open. If he wanted to have both open wouldn't the pressure of the pump pushing the water create a in-pipe siphon to pull the water along with it. Maybe I am mis thinking but what do you think?

what kind of magnet cleaner is this? that price is insane. i thought the algae free magnet where exp

Mighty Magnets; they are quite nice (and expensive). I could have gone with the FF3, I think and saved about $40. This thing is crazy strong...made my stand creak while cleaning. So, the next time I used the spacer which eliminated that eerie sound. lol

interesting. ive never heard of these. how do you like so far? do you recommend? the cost means nothing to me if its a high quality product

I've only used it twice and it works quite well. If it can remove coralline, I'll be a happy camper! Go to their website and check out the offerings as well as check on R2R and others for reviews. Everyone loves them.

A few pictures with latest additions. I cheated with a yellow Tiffen filter instead of using photo editing software.

how is the tank going?

It's doing well, overall. Battling some Dinos at present, but nothing horrible. I will get some photos posted soon. I have my eye on a 90mm Sony macro lens. ;-)
