Imagitarium (Petco) 3.7 Gallon Pico

Saw this awesome tank at Petco for $50 and was wanting a tank for the office. It is quite small (about a 10" cube) and it's AIO. Just wanted to share my build as I progress.

Thanks, my plans for stocking are a yellow clown goby and a yasha goby/candy pistol shrimp. I may also put in a sexy shrimp and/or pompom crab but I'm not sure just yet.

It wouldn't be that cramped for all of the fish, but I would hold off on one of the two fish. There bioload would make the tank harder to keep stable (it would be possible but I would wait a while between adding each). I wouldn't get the pompom crab either, they can be aggressive in small tanks.

Thanks for the recommendation, I wasn't 100% sold on the crab anyways (all crabs can be destructive). I will leave it out. And I definitely plan on keeping this updated.

I knew it would be tough to maintain water parameters and quality so I ended up spending more money on the ATO than on the tank. Got the Hydor smart level controller and a cheapo pump. Also found a cool container in the kitchen section at target to have a reservoir that looks good in it's own right.

I have never been much for waiting for cycles. I used Bio-spira and some rock from my main tank to get things seeded. I then began dropping in ammonia from the Dr. Tim's kit. After about a week the ammonia and nitrite were being converted overnight. I did a large water change and dropped in a couple bubble bee snails and a yellow clown goby.

I've really kind of gone back and forth on the coral choices. I still haven't really decided. I plan to stay away from fast growers like GSP or xenia. I also am going to start with pretty much all frags. Some flashy zoas, acans, and really whatever catches my eye at the LFS. Planning on buying my first batch soon.

I did upgrade the return pump from the stock 40 GPH to a Hydor Centrifugal 200 GPH. This seems to give me a good amount of flow and I shouldn't need a power head. I also removed all the stock trays and just put a bag of Seachem Matrix, a bag of carbon, and some filter floss on top.

Is that BRS dryrock? I got some reefsaver rock from BRS and wished I bought the pukani, so much more porous.

I got it from my LFS. It seems like it is the same as the BRS reef saver. I'm sure there's better rock available but I like the way this rock breaks apart and is easy to build/scape just the way I want it. Plus, I put a relatively good amount of matrix in the back so I should be ok.

Got some corals for the pico. Got a yellow scroll, some light colored zoas, some blue and green coral I can't identify, a war coral, a pocillopora, and an acan of some sort. Haven't mounted them just yet.

Nice job. I love the small tanks. This is my 5 gallon in my office. It's not as clean as yours but it's fun.
