instant ocean bio spira

Not sure the uv would be a good idea since it zaps bacteria. Bio spara is bacteria in a bottle that when added to the tank will be in the water column and get zapped by the uv. I would wait about a week before running a uv but then again I dont use a uv so my opinion is worthless
I will wait probably a couple weeks

Update it has been 24 hours I am almost 0 ammonia my nitrites are double yesterday and I am showing nitrate

I just don't understand why you'd use one in a test like this where a UV will kill bacteria in the water, but that is what you are adding.
I won't for a while but I have always used uv successfully never a disease in my tank so I am just use to the method.

OK better explanation once the bacteria adheres to the rock and sand you don't need it in the water column.

Let me introduce myself my name is Maurice I've been in this hobby for 30+ yrs I could totally relate to Paul bs thread 44 yr old tank I didn't even know they still sold dolomite lol but I was there when we had that and under gravel filters Rodi was for scientists no such animal as a skimmer and hair algae on the back of the glass and stand tubes was same as a algae scrubber lol we didn't have internet and I read somebody was running a under gravel filter in reverse lol. Just to let all know me and like Paul B I don't say much either lol.

Yes, that true, but I wouldn't run a UV while doing a test to see if adding bacteria via the water column speeds cycling.

FWIW, I don't use a UV and I don't want to kill the bacteria in the water. I encourage them via organic carbon dosing, and I want them as food for filter feeders, not as fodder for a uv which will kill them and cause their sequestered nutrients to be released. :)

Update it have been about 66 hours I added more ammonia last night about 10 hours ago before I added I tested and ammonia and nitrite were 0 I just tested now and ammonia is very faint .25 ppm maybe and nitrite is about 5 ppm

I love dr. Tim's one and only and his refresh and waste away products. Have also used seachem stability with good nitrogen cycle results. Didn't Dr. Tim invent BioSpira when he was at Marineland? Read that somewhere.

Yes, Tim claims to have developed BioSpira, and I have no reason to doubt it:
