instant ocean bio spira

Over 10 tanks started using bio spira. About 7 in the last 3 months all using bio spira.
I have added fish right away on most but I'd also used live sand, live rock, seeded filter media and such.
Make sure you turn off your skimmer and UV for at least 10 days
Oh yeah I have all that and will for sure.

I've been in and out of this I'm not going to say hobby but addiction for 30+ yrs just never known less than a 6 wk cycle this is good stuff. Lol

When I started I used live rocks and live sand. Waited until it cleared up before adding Bio-Spira. After a week of adding live stock I placed another bottle of Bio-Spira to minimized any bacteria bloom. The first tank I done had a huge bacteria bloom without adding a second full bottle in the tank. Been lucky so far.

Just to be honest I may put this stuff through the ringer just to see how it will hold up then I will report back lol

experiment idea

blind bottle test of 4 different speed cyclers 4 different tanks with rocks or bricks as substrate something guaranteed no prior assistance, do em all to 2 ppm digestion see if stat difference, then unveil!

OK I'm going to dose 4 ppm ammonia wait 48 hrs turn on uv run ammonia badge and put it to the test and I will tell my findings.

what you are attempting is requested by hundreds of tankers and a few that have posted here, extreme speed cycling. had to create another designation as speed cycling was already bringing up fully dry rocks to workable digestion (a few ppm to zero in 24 hours after dosing) within about 2-3 weeks max. this was using any bottle bac and repeated ammonia digestion testing to ensure its a constant, and not just a result of adding bac to the water column. Extreme speed cycling therefore is deemed adding the fish and the tank and the substrate and the bottle bac all at once, I think this might even be faster than the show tanked heh at least they are using some pre aged stuff

I still cannot judge however, its merely a question of compounds. strong advice comes from the seasoned reefer who advises taking time and working out tank variables before delicate life is in tow. on the counter, there are times where people can't or wont do that, and to know how it turns out isn't bad science its just someone elses rat in a cheese maze for us to read on, nothing harsh from me. id suggest using whatever aquacultured fish you can find heh to avoid anarchy. I don't view goldfish in bowls at fairs as particularly mean, nor the mouse I trapped last year who didn't make it, and to be fair anything they are mass producing for reefs is now in the same boat, again I expect to be alone in this venture it feels weird lol. let the record stand that of 100% of reefers, only 1.8% would recommend extreme speed cycling, .2% wouldn't judge ya for having tried using not wild life, and 98% reco to go slower

the only way to know if an ammonia alert badge can work as the test bench you have to locate threads where its reading was x referenced to something like salifert or hanna. the 98% wants to make sure even trace readings of ammonia aren't there for the test to be true, and they'll want it tested daily after addition to see if the bac keeps up

K will do and Randy I thought you might have tested it

I've not tested it, but I do not doubt it speeds cycling, just like adding some live rock or sand from an existing tank does.

Why is a UV involved?

50+ tanks (when I was maintaining aquariums in high school and college) with success. It's good stuff

I am using it right now I got ammonia up to 2 ppm an hour or 2 later I was showing nitrites I will test all 3 when I get home in 3 hours and report back. But I'm using it in my qt tank I added it directly into my hob filter.

Not sure the uv would be a good idea since it zaps bacteria. Bio spara is bacteria in a bottle that when added to the tank will be in the water column and get zapped by the uv. I would wait about a week before running a uv but then again I dont use a uv so my opinion is worthless
