I use the HR Nitrate, ULR Phosphorous, Alk and Magnesium for my weekly water test.

Had the singles, bought the master. While using the singles I tested and sent in Icp test. It was really close some being spot on. I would trust the Hannas. Make sure you rinse with DI water.

I use Hanna ULR Phos and HR Nitrate because I can’t even begin to tell the difference in eyeballing the color charts and I have gotten consistent seemingly accurate results. I also use the Hanna Copper for my quarantine tank. I also have the Hanna Alk meter and I also think it is accurate and reliable but I only own it because I bought Ph/N/Alk together used as a package, otherwise the Salifert titration method would be fine for me.

Then I use Salifert Calcium and Mag.

I looked at the master tester but not really worth it to me since I already own the individual ones I want from Hanna anyway. Maybe if it saved time/work but it doesn’t, it just saves space pretty much.

I'm cautious due in part that my 1ish year old Hanna Salinity Checker started giving me off results and then completely wrong results. It's in a landfill somewhere now.

I use Hanna Alk, Phos, Calc, Nitrate and PH. I find them useful and accurate as long as the cuvettes are clean. Phosphate and Nitrate tests will be extremely inaccurate with even slightly cloudy cuvette.

I swapped to the master since my desktop ULR P04 died. That one was 300+ by itself.
I’m using DKH,N03,CA,MG, P04. PH is shown from Hydros. Always the option of adding more tests to the master. Bluetooth and log are nicer than the eggs.

Personally the only downside to the marine master is that you can only test 1 parameter at a time vs using multiple separate checkers.
Everything else about it from bigger testing vials (easier to add reagents) and data logging (incase you miss the timer and/or forget the result) is extremely worth while though

oh dang, i thought it was more on a one in all kinda thing. didnt know u had to test for each. @C_AWOL @DHill6 how is the accuracy on the master compared to the checkers? at the end of the day thats what im lookin for and affordability if thats a posibilty.

I think it works well, saying that I purchased extra curvettes so each test has its own. I didn’t purchase the complete kit, I didn’t want that large case, I knew what tests I wanted. Ease of use just follow promps. I purchased the newer one, Bluetooth between phone and master.

Hanna list the accuracy in the spec for their testers.

I will always use the Hanna Alk, ULR Phosphate and HR Nitrate. There are better options for Ca+ and Mg.

I went to compare prices and wow, standalone checkers are up to $65. I think they were just $50 not long ago. Still, you can get standalone Alk, PO4, and Nitrate for $200 and buy other more reliable colorimetric test kits for Ca and Mg for fairly cheap. This will save you a decent chunk of money.

Hi There. I have 4 Hanna checkers. All easy to use and hopefully accurate. Watch out for low battery charge on the salinity meter. Threw my readings out so keep the battery in that checker fresh. Otherwise, well worth the £££.

I do use multiple test kits just to cross check results (salifert, red sea, and yes api) with virtually all results coming out similar other than calcium and ammonia for the hanna (ammonia isn't testable on my older marine master and calcium always registers lower with my hanna than salifert/red sea)

As far as accuracy compared to individual checkers, you might get more consistent results with the marine master due to the fact that you're more likely to maintain the same spot on the vials than you would with the smaller egg checkers which reduces any discrepancies due to imperfect glass in various spots.

hmm @C_AWOL that is a good point. but my thing is my main concern in really jusy cal,mag. and alk. so if i could just grab the 3 id be fine, ig itd just depend how much thatd go for and how thatd compare. i do think u right when u said the master would reduce discrepancies, but how old is ur master? when would u say it started acting obsolete?

if they are all truely 65$ a pop then the master deff seems to be the better way

Hasn't skipped a beat since day 1. I bought mine the very first day it was released in november 2021? which is why mine doesn't even have wifi or ammonia testing,
Alk and Mag testing it does fine(the primary test you were looking for), but I wouldn't count on it for Calcium testing since it's the only test I do with it that has an odd discrepancy with the other test kits I use. Could be that my reagent is bad but I never bothered to buy the refills to verify that.

I use Hanna phosphate and nitrate . These are more than accurate enough in my opinion

They are fine !! . User error can give false readings and or not using clean or unscratched cuvettes . I have experienced this myself from time to time . I now clean my cuvettes with RODI water and a small home made bottle brush with soft bristles. Then I keep them in a jar full of RODI water (no air bubbles ) after rinsing . I will carefully wash and rinse again before use . Since I started these protocols I’ve been pleased with my results . Imo Hanna testers are very good . To be clear I don’t have the master kit though

i feel like w the update, things should be more accurate w the calcium testing. who knowss, but i think thats what were gonna go w at the end of the dayy. seems a little more pratical
